We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Part-Time Speech Therapist/Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide individualized speech, language, cognitive, feeding, and swallowing services to our pediatric and adult population.

Position Overview
The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating, developing, and implementing individualized treatment plans designed to improve communication, cognition, swallowing, and overall functional independence for pediatric and adult residents.
The SLP provides evidence-based speech and swallowing interventions while working collaboratively with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, caregivers, families, and other members of the interdisciplinary care team.
This position requires a therapist who can adapt their approach to the developmental, communication, medical, and functional needs of each resident while maintaining safe, compassionate, resident-centered care.

What You’ll Do
Speech, Language & Cognitive Therapy
- Perform comprehensive speech-language evaluations for pediatric and adult residents
- Assess expressive and receptive language, speech production, cognition, memory, problem-solving, voice, fluency, and functional communication
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on physician referrals, clinical findings, and resident goals
- Provide evidence-based interventions designed to improve communication and participation in everyday activities
- Reassess progress and modify treatment plans based on resident response and functional outcomes
- Utilize adaptive communication devices and alternative communication methods when appropriate
Pediatric Speech & Language Development
- Provide developmentally appropriate speech and language interventions for pediatric residents
- Evaluate communication abilities and developmental needs
- Support speech production, receptive and expressive language, social communication, cognition, and functional communication
- Adapt treatment approaches based on each child’s developmental, cognitive, behavioral, and medical needs
- Partner with families and caregivers to reinforce communication strategies outside of therapy sessions
Feeding, Swallowing & Dysphagia Management
- Evaluate swallowing function and identify residents who may be at risk for aspiration
- Develop and implement individualized dysphagia treatment plans
- Provide feeding and swallowing interventions appropriate to resident needs
- Recommend appropriate diet textures and liquid consistencies in collaboration with physicians and other appropriate clinical team members
- Educate nursing staff, caregivers, and families regarding safe feeding techniques and aspiration precautions
- Monitor residents receiving G-tube feedings and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team regarding swallowing safety and progression
Tracheostomy, Ventilator & Complex Care
- Collaborate closely with Respiratory Therapists and nursing staff when treating residents requiring ventilators, tracheostomies, oxygen therapy, and G-tubes
- Evaluate appropriate communication options for residents with tracheostomies, including speaking valve tolerance when clinically appropriate
- Incorporate respiratory status into swallowing and communication treatment planning
- Monitor tolerance to therapeutic interventions and communicate changes in swallowing or respiratory function promptly
- Adapt interventions based on each resident’s medical complexity and safety needs
Interdisciplinary Care Coordination
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, case managers, caregivers, and families
- Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and treatment planning
- Communicate resident progress, barriers, and recommendations to members of the care team
- Educate direct care staff and caregivers on communication strategies, therapeutic exercises, feeding techniques, and swallowing precautions
- Promote continuity of care across disciplines and settings
Resident & Family Education
- Educate residents and families regarding communication strategies, swallowing safety, treatment goals, and home exercise programs
- Provide families and caregivers with practical strategies to support progress between therapy sessions
- Encourage resident participation in therapy goals and promote functional independence whenever possible
- Provide compassionate education and support to families navigating speech, communication, feeding, and swallowing challenges
Documentation & Compliance
- Complete evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, recertifications, and discharge documentation accurately and timely
- Ensure therapy services are consistent with the authorized plan of care and applicable payer requirements
- Maintain documentation supporting medical necessity and services provided
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and resident confidentiality
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical audits
- Complete required organizational and regulatory training
- Follow applicable reporting requirements for incidents and suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation
Qualifications
- Current Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) license in the State of Florida
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Ability to successfully complete required Level II background screening and credentialing requirements
- Experience evaluating and treating dysphagia and communication disorders
- Experience in home health, rehabilitation, long-term care, pediatric care, or medically complex populations preferred
- Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology experience preferred
- Experience working with individuals requiring ventilator, tracheostomy, oxygen, and/or G-tube support preferred
- Experience with feeding and swallowing disorders preferred
- Experience working with individuals with developmental or intellectual disabilities preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning abilities
- Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
- Ability to adapt treatment plans to the needs of both pediatric and adult residents
- Ability to travel to assigned client homes and group home locations
- Ability to lift or move 50 pounds or more, with or without reasonable accommodation
