Electronic Technician

The Electronic Technician plays a critical role in bridging Research & Development and Manufacturing by supporting the build, testing, validation, and transfer of new products from prototype through production. This position focuses on assembling and testing engineering prototypes, troubleshooting complex manufacturing and product issues, supporting process development activities, and collaborating closely with Engineering, R&D, and Production teams to ensure successful product commercialization. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment where products, processes, and requirements evolve and who enjoys working on next-generation technologies before they enter full-scale production.

Responsibilities:

• Build, assemble, and test engineering prototypes, development units, and pre-production products.
• Support the transition of new products from R&D into manufacturing by validating processes, procedures, and tooling.
• Set up, operate, and optimize complex manufacturing and prototype fabrication processes.
• Perform electrical, mechanical, and RF testing using specialized equipment such as network analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, voltmeters, and other laboratory instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing, prototype, and product-related issues using structured problem-solving techniques and root-cause analysis.
• Partner closely with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, R&D, and Quality teams to evaluate product performance and manufacturability.
• Provide technical feedback on prototype builds, design iterations, and process improvements.
• Assist in prototype development activities, engineering change implementation, and process validation efforts.
• Conduct R&D production runs and pilot builds to validate manufacturing readiness and support product launch activities.
• Develop, maintain, and update work instructions, test procedures, manufacturing documentation, and prototype build records.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for assigned processes, products, or technologies.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on product quality, manufacturability, throughput, and cost reduction.
• Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing methods, testing procedures, and product reliability.
• Document findings, build results, testing outcomes, and process changes in a clear and organized manner.
• Provide technical communication and feedback to cross-functional teams in support of product and process improvements.

Essential Skills:

• Ability to build, test, troubleshoot, and validate new electronic products and assemblies.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting experience.
• Comfortable working from drawings, work instructions, schematics, and engineering documents.
• Proficiency in using electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, voltmeters, network analyzers, and other laboratory instruments.
• Experience with electronics assembly, wiring, soldering, and printed circuit board (PCB) work.
• Skill in electronics testing, calibration, debugging, and electronics troubleshooting.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose issues and implement corrective actions.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to provide technical feedback and collaborate across teams.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience supporting prototype, pilot production, engineering development, or low-volume manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting product development, process validation, or manufacturing process improvement activities.
• Experience with root cause analysis methodologies such as RCA, PDCA, or 8D.
• Technical writing experience for documenting procedures, test results, and process changes.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement methodologies.
• Experience with ERP systems to support manufacturing and documentation processes.

Work Environment:

This role is based 100% onsite in Pottstown, PA, within a manufacturing and R&D-focused environment. The Electronic Technician works closely with engineering laboratories and production areas, using electronic test equipment, network analyzers, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other specialized tools to support prototype builds and pilot production runs. The environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with evolving products and processes and frequent collaboration across Engineering, R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams. Attire is typical for a hands-on technical manufacturing and lab setting, where safety and professionalism are prioritized.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pottstown, PA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
