Logistics Manager – Wholesale & Retail Donut Company Sprinkles Donut Shop is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee the end‑to‑end logistics and distribution for both wholesale (gas stations, convenience stores, local businesses, major grocery stores) and retail (company‑owned stores and events). This role is essential for ensuring timely procurement of ingredients, efficient daily production support, and fresh delivery of donuts and pastries while controlling costs, minimizing waste, and upholding strict food safety standards in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. Key Responsibilities Supply Chain & Procurement: Manage sourcing and inbound logistics for key donut ingredients (flour, sugar, oils, dairy, eggs, fillings, glazes, and packaging). Build strong relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent quality and timely deliveries. Inventory Management: Oversee inventory of perishable and high‑turnover items in our warehouse and production facility. Implement FIFO rotation, conduct regular cycle counts, and reduce waste of short‑shelf‑life ingredients and finished donuts. Wholesale Distribution: Plan and execute daily/early‑morning deliveries to wholesale accounts. Optimize routes for high‑volume orders while maintaining product freshness and presentation. Retail Operations Support: Coordinate replenishment for our seven retail stores in the greater Grand Rapids area. Warehouse & Facility Operations: Supervise receiving, storage (dry, refrigerated, and frozen zones), picking, packing, and shipping in our Central Kitchen facility. Ensure organized, sanitary, and efficient workflows. Fleet & Route Management: Lead a small‑to‑medium delivery fleet and/or third‑party carriers. Use route optimization tools to balance cost, time windows, and freshness for both wholesale and retail deliveries. Cost Control: Monitor and reduce logistics expenses including transportation and fuel. Compliance & Food Safety: Ensure all logistics processes meet FDA, local health department, SQF, and HACCP standards. Maintain proper documentation for traceability and recalls. Team Leadership: Hire, train, and lead a team of drivers and logistics coordinators. Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, and teamwork. Systems & Reporting: Utilize inventory management systems and basic routing software to track KPIs (on‑time delivery, order accuracy, inventory turns, cost per delivery). Provide clear weekly/monthly reports for management. Qualifications & Experience 3–5 years of logistics or supply chain experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Experience in food manufacturing or bakery/donut production/distribution is strongly preferred. Hands‑on experience with perishable goods, high‑volume daily distribution, and managing both wholesale and retail channels. Experience with fleet management and route optimization tools. Familiarity with inventory systems (WMS or ERP). Knowledge of food safety regulations and cold‑chain logistics. Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills in a dynamic, peak‑period environment (mornings, weekends, holidays, events). Proficient in Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets and comfortable learning inventory or routing software. Excellent leadership, communication, and vendor relationship skills. Ability to work flexible hours, including early starts (pre‑dawn) and occasional weekends. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
