Professor of Practice-Museum Studies

Position Summary The Museum Studies Program at the University of New Mexico invites applications for a Professor of Practice in Museum Studies to begin in August 10, 2026. This is a full-time Professor of Practice position in Museum Studies. Applicants must hold a terminal degree (Master’s, MFA, or PhD) in Museum Studies or a related field by June 30, 2026. We seek an accomplished individual who demonstrates a commitment to interdisciplinary practice, can offer undergraduate and graduate courses in Museum Studies, and is prepared to take an active role in mentoring students in a Master’s program with an excellent record of preparing graduates for careers in the museum profession. Responsibilities The successful candidate will teach courses in-person and online each semester, mentoring students and contributing to curriculum development. The candidate must hold a terminal degree in Museum Studies or a related discipline, have significant museum professional experience, and demonstrate expertise in working with Native American heritage and communities.
