Make a lasting impact in a supportive school setting for the 26/27 academic year! This full-time contract opportunity starts August 31st and offers the chance to provide dedicated paraprofessional support to two students: a senior boy and a 16-year-old girl with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), both requiring 1:1 attention. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) and possess the passion and resilience to work with nonverbal students who may express themselves through challenging behaviors.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid CNA or PCA credentials
- Prior experience working in schools, especially with individuals on the autism spectrum
- Patience, empathy, and comfort supporting students with behavioral challenges
- Willingness to assist with all aspects of personal care, including toileting, diapering, and menstruation needs
- Must be comfortable working 1:1 with both a senior boy and a 16-year-old girl
- Reliable transportation required; not accessible by public transit
- Full-time availability from 7am–3pm, with the option to leave at 2:30pm if forgoing your lunch
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver consistent, compassionate assistance to assigned students throughout the school day
- Implement behavior support plans under teacher or clinician guidance
- Provide hands-on help with toileting, hygiene routines, diapering, and menstrual care
- Support social, emotional, and academic development in collaboration with educational staff
- Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality at all times
