Design Associate

LSG, an impact agency specializing in brand building, corporate reputation management, and public affairs, seeks a creative, highly-motivated design associate to join our team. This position plays a critical role within our collaborative creative group supporting clients with compelling, high-quality design across digital and print channels. The ideal candidate brings one year of design experience, exceptional attention to detail, and a genuine interest in communications, public policy, or social impact work. This is a hybrid role based in our downtown DC office Monday-Thursday, with remote work available on Fridays. Responsibilities Design high-quality digital and print collateral including presentations, social media graphics, newsletters, one-pagers, reports, infographics, data visualizations, and event materials Maintain brand consistency across all client-facing and internal communications Translate strategic messaging into visually compelling assets across a variety of formats and platforms Prepare and package files for production and vendor delivery, including quick-turnaround print materials Support client accounts by drafting press releases, social media content, issue briefs, action alerts, and other written materials as needed Write, edit, and proofread client-facing materials to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute fresh creative ideas Maintain and organize the firm's creative asset library and design templates Assist with client reporting, weekly updates, and post-project materials Stay current on design trends and bring new perspectives to the team Qualifications B.A. in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Art, Communications, or a related field One year of professional or internship experience in graphic design, marketing, or communications Interest in public relations, public affairs, or social impact work Strong portfolio showcasing design work across digital and/or print media Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop); Canva proficiency required Solid understanding of design fundamentals: typography, layout, color theory, and branding Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills; excellent editing and proofreading abilities Self-starter who works well independently and collaboratively A Plus If You Have Figma experience Familiarity with media and social media monitoring tools (e.g., Critical Mention, Meltwater, Brandwatch) Experience in motion graphics and/or video editing Why You'll Love Working at LSG Base salary: $60,000 per year, plus annual performance bonus eligibility Fully covered employee health, dental, and vision insurance — no cost to you, seriously Flexible time off policy — take the time you need; we trust you to manage it $40K/year family planning support for adoption, infertility, or surrogacy (because building a family shouldn't break the bank) Pet insurance on us — we cover premiums for up to 2 pets $500/year wellness reimbursement — gym, yoga, hiking gear, whatever keeps you moving Work from anywhere the week of July 4th and the week between Christmas and New Year's Snacks on snacks — the kitchen is stocked and yes, we take requests About LSG We work with corporations, trade associations, and nonprofits to change hearts and minds, move public opinion, and help brands connect to the public conscience in a rapidly changing environment.
