Paralegal

Partners directly with business and legal partners in the Investments division (primarily focusing on Private Equity, Real Estate Private Equity, and other types of transactional work) to recognize, analyze, and evaluate complex legal issues and risks, and develop related solutions to meet business objectives. Enhances and protects the organization’s reputation by providing support for regulatory and legal matters in a varied, fast-paced environment. May act as organization’s subject matter expert on various business and legal areas across multiple business lines. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Support legal and business teams on transactions, including assisting with deal documents (for example, non-disclosure agreements, subscription agreements, corporate records, closing volumes, and others) and other aspects such as closings, amendments, consents, corporate actions, and similar. Draft, maintain, and update internal corporate documents, tracking spreadsheets, checklists, forms, procedures manuals, and other resources. Understands the functions, legal and business needs across divisions, departments, and business units supported, with a focus on transactional work for the Investments division, particularly various Private Investment asset classes.Maintains knowledge of theobjectivesof multiple businesslines, andcontinually updates knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment in which theyoperate. Independently informs and coaches business partners asappropriate. Supports the organization’s goals and projects by conducting research and developing options and alternatives related to legal, regulatoryand business matters and risk mitigation. Provides coaching and counseling to business partners related to implementation. Independentlyidentifies,analyzes, andresearcheslegal issues within divisions, departments, and business units supported as appropriate.Works directly with outside counsel to resolve issues. Conducts research as directed by attorneys. Examples may be issues related to securities matters, Investment Company Act issues, and other regulatory matters. May lead other GCO initiatives orparticipatein enterprise-wide initiatives as appropriate.May have responsibility to develop and/ormaintaincompliance and business processes. Relies on independent judgment toidentifyand resolveissuesengaging attorneys asappropriate. Manages multiple priorities based on risk or opportunity to the enterprise Promotes and protects the reputation of the organization.Assistsattorneys and Business Partners in developing approaches for managing legal and regulatory compliance and risk mitigation. Impactof decisions may beata department, division, or organization level.Improper decisions may have adverse legal, regulatoryand/or reputational impactstoThrivent. QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS Required Bachelor’s Degree or Paralegal Certificate Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience Preferred Experience in transactional and/or corporate governance work is critical. Experience with tools used to evaluate, interpret, and analyze legal information. Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Exercises sound business acumen and judgment. Fosters teamwork and collaboration. Mentorsother paralegals and legal specialists. Ability to evaluate, redesign or tailor electronic toolsutilizedby law and compliance to meet the needs of the GCO. Ability to draft policies and procedures for GCO and businessclients; Deep understanding of the business to direct outside counsel to obtain cost effective legal advice and results. The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $94,175.00 - $127,413.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
