Job Title: Travel RN Stepdown/Telemetry Profession: RN Specialty: PCU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a hospital setting License: Must have VA license or compact Certifications: BLS, ACLS required Must-Have: Proficient in Telemetry Description: This position requires two years of experience in a hospital setting. Candidates must possess a valid Virginia license or a compact license. Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required. The stepdown/telemetry unit specializes in the care of cardiac procedure patients. Typical cases include STEMI, NSTEMI, PCI, and post-cath lab nursing care. Other patient management includes chest pain, congestive heart failure, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The unit also handles management of chest tubes, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, and various invasive procedures. There is a patient-to-nurse ratio of 4:1. The staffing model includes registered nurses supported by nursing assistants and a unit clerk. The unit utilizes various types of equipment such as IV pumps and Hoyer lifts. Documentation is performed using a specific electronic health record system. Travelers are required to work three 12-hour shifts and every other weekend. A floating policy is applicable for travelers and part-time staff. Patient experience guidelines emphasize bedside shift rounds and personal connections.
