Criminal Defense Attorney - Former Prosecutors and Public Defenders Welcome Build Your Criminal Defense Career with an Established Maryland Practice An established and highly regarded Maryland law firm is seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney to join its growing practice in Glen Burnie. This opportunity is well suited for an attorney who enjoys being in court, wants meaningful responsibility, and is looking for the resources and support of an established firm. The attorney will handle a varied criminal caseload that may include misdemeanors, serious traffic matters, felonies, probation violations, and other criminal proceedings. What You Will Do Represent clients in Maryland courts in criminal and serious traffic matters Handle hearings, motions, plea negotiations, trials, sentencing proceedings, and related court appearances Review discovery, evaluate evidence, identify legal issues, and develop effective defense strategies Draft motions, briefs, and other court filings Communicate clearly and compassionately with clients throughout the legal process Negotiate with prosecutors and advocate for favorable resolutions when appropriate Work collaboratively with attorneys, support staff, investigators, and outside experts Participate in the continued growth of the firm's criminal defense practice What We Are Looking For Juris Doctor from an accredited law school Active Maryland law license in good standing At least two years of Maryland criminal law experience in prosecution, public defense, or private practice Meaningful courtroom experience and a strong interest in trial advocacy Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills Ability to manage cases independently while working collaboratively with a team Sound judgment, professionalism, responsiveness, and a client-service mindset Trial experience is preferred, but candidates do not need to have handled every type of criminal matter listed above. Attorneys with strong courtroom foundations who are ready to expand their experience are encouraged to apply. Compensation and Benefits Base salary of $95,000-$135,000, based on experience Incentive compensation Health insurance Vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off All inquiries will be handled confidentially.
