Business Analyst

The Business Analyst role involves providing comprehensive I&IT business analysis services by engaging with stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements. The analyst leads efforts to identify business problems and opportunities, supports solution design, and promotes best practices within the organization. This role requires strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with a focus on facilitating business improvements through technology and process optimization. Responsibilities:

• Lead and conduct business analysis to assess client business needs and document requirements for I&IT solutions.
• Engage with business stakeholders and subject matter experts to gather and analyze requirements using various techniques such as interviews, JAD sessions, and mockups.
• Prepare business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and feasibility studies for I&IT initiatives.
• Develop and advise on business analysis policies, processes, standards, and best practices.
• Conduct business modeling including use case, data, process, and flow modeling.
• Monitor project progress, resolve issues, and report to management and stakeholders.
• Develop performance measures and traceability matrices to evaluate business analysis effectiveness.
• Apply re-engineering concepts to promote alternative and cost-effective service delivery approaches.
• Align business analysis activities with project management methodologies and enterprise architecture standards.

• Proven experience in gathering, analyzing, and documenting data, system, and business requirements.
• Expertise in business analysis tools such as Visio and swim lane diagrams.
• Ability to define use cases, user stories, and acceptance criteria for IT solutions.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including leading workshops, JAD sessions, and interviews.
• Proficiency with JIRA, Confluence, and Azure DevOps for requirements tracking and project collaboration.
• Experience with process modeling and workflow visualization tools like Visio, Lucidchart, MIRO, and Figma.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
• Ability to effectively liaise between business users, IT teams, and external vendors.

• Experience with information retrieval packages.
• Knowledge of Information Management principles, policies, and practices.
• Ability to translate business and data requirements into technical specifications.
• Familiarity with a wide range of business analysis methods and techniques including business functional and event modeling, process mapping.
• Experience with structured, object-oriented, and agile methodologies for requirements gathering.
• Knowledge of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related standards.
• Experience developing performance measures for business analysis evaluation and follow-up.
• Familiarity with ERP, CRM, or cloud-based business solutions.
• Knowledge of data-driven decision-making tools such as Power BI, SQL, and advanced Excel.
