Senior Software Engineer, Voice AI & LLM

Salary: $130,154 - 198,140 per year Requirements:

• We are looking for someone with 5+ years of experience shipping production software in a modern stack such as Python, TypeScript, or something comparable.
• We need at least 2+ years of hands-on production experience with LLM APIs such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google, rather than prototype-only work.
• We require direct experience with voice AI, including at least one of the following: STT/TTS pipelines, native real-time voice APIs such as Gemini Live, Azure Realtime, or OpenAI Realtime, or managed voice platforms such as ElevenLabs Agents, LiveKit, or Vapi.
• We expect working knowledge of prompt engineering and RAG patterns.
• We prefer cloud experience, with Azure as the first choice, though GCP or AWS are also acceptable.
• We require strong written and verbal English.
• We need availability to begin onboarding the week of September 15, 2026.
• Nice-to-have experience includes educational technology, especially language learning.
• French language proficiency is an asset.
• Familiarity with Canadian federal data residency and compliance requirements is an advantage.
• Experience integrating enterprise portals, SSO, and feature-flag systems is helpful.
• A track record of building evaluation frameworks for LLM applications is desirable.

• Design and develop the full voice AI pipeline end to end, using cascaded STT + LLM + TTS flows and/or native real-time approaches.
• Integrate LLM inference with our portal and learner-state layer.
• Implement pedagogical calibration in the prompt layer, working with our clients Innovation team.
• Build an automated evaluation harness, including rubric-scoring prompts, held-out test sets, and quality gates.
• Contribute to vendor benchmarking and architecture decisions.
• Write maintainable code that our existing team can support after the contract ends.

In this role, we are building an AI conversation partner: a voice-first tool that helps learners practice spoken conversation against structured pedagogical content and integrates into an existing learner portal. You will join a small engineering team as a full-time contributor from day one in a hands-on build role. The position is remote, with applications reviewed on a rolling basis, and the posted pay range is $130,153.78 to $198,140.33 per year.
