Ecological Justice Coordinator for Youth Engagement – Ignatian Solidarity Network Full-Time | Salary with Benefits Position Summary The Ecological Justice Coordinator for Youth Engagement leads the Ignatian Solidarity Network’s efforts to form, network, and mobilize young people, educators, and Catholic institutions to advance ecological justice rooted in Catholic Social Teaching and Ignatian spirituality. Through leadership formation, educational resource development, advocacy, coalition building, and institutional sustainability initiatives, this position helps inspire faithful action to care for our common home. Reporting to the Director of Justice Formation and Action, the Coordinator collaborates closely with ISN staff, consultants, volunteers, institutional partners, and national coalition partners to advance ISN’s ecological justice priorities. About the Ignatian Solidarity Network The Ignatian Solidarity Network (ISN) is a national social justice network inspired by the spirituality of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Founded in 2004, ISN is a lay‑led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization partnering with Catholic universities, high schools, parishes, and social justice organizations across the United States. With more than 100 member institutions in 34 states, ISN forms, networks, and mobilizes students, educators, parishioners, alumni, and advocates through leadership development, educational resources, advocacy, and national gatherings—including the Ignatian Family Teach‑In for Justice, the nation’s largest Catholic social justice conference. Primary Responsibilities Formation and Education Lead the planning and implementation of ISN’s annual ecological justice leadership programs for high school students and educators. Partner with staff to co‑develop ecological programming for college and university students. Coordinate ecology‑related programming and mainstage content for the Ignatian Family Teach‑In for Justice. Develop educational resources that help Catholic institutions understand ecological justice and its relationship to migration, economic justice, racial justice, and other social concerns. Design and facilitate at least one annual digital formation initiative focused on ecological spirituality and integral ecology. Maintain and expand ISN’s online ecological justice resources. Mobilization, Advocacy, and Institutional Change Lead the continued development and expansion of ISN’s Ignatian carbon footprint measurement and reduction initiatives, equipping Catholic institutions to measure, benchmark, and reduce energy use while lowering greenhouse gas emissions and advancing care for our common home. Coordinate at least two annual advocacy campaigns that mobilize Catholic institutions and individuals to advance ecological justice through public policy and collective action. In collaboration with the Director of Justice Formation and Action and advocacy partners, develop and maintain ISN’s federal ecological policy priorities and advocacy resources. Serve on the Ignatian Family Teach‑In for Justice Advocacy Committee, contributing to issue discernment, advocacy strategy, and implementation. Support Catholic institutions in translating ecological formation into meaningful institutional practices and public witness. Networking and Collaboration Coordinate and grow ISN’s Eco Educators Network through regular virtual gatherings and relationship‑building opportunities. Plan and facilitate in‑person gatherings for Eco Educators. Cultivate communities of practice that support ongoing learning and collaboration among Catholic educators and parish leaders. Represent ISN within national Catholic and Jesuit ecological coalitions, including the Jesuit Conference Office of Justice and Ecology, Catholic ECO Collaborative, EcoJesuit, Laudato Si’ Movement, Catholic Climate Covenant, and other strategic partners. Provide presentations and workshops for Catholic schools, parishes, universities, and partner organizations on ecological justice and Catholic Social Teaching. Organizational Leadership Support ISN programs and events, both virtually and in person, as needed. Represent ISN with institutional partners, foundations, individual donors, and other stakeholders to communicate the impact of ISN’s ecological justice work. Serve on internal staff teams and committees. Perform other duties that support the mission and strategic priorities of ISN. Required Qualifications Minimum of three years of experience in Catholic education, ministry, nonprofit leadership, organizing, advocacy, environmental education, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree in theology, environmental science, education, public policy, or a related discipline. Demonstrated commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, ecological justice, and the mission of the Ignatian Solidarity Network. Ability to develop and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with Ignatian spirituality and the Jesuit network of schools and ministries. Experience organizing leadership formation programs for youth or young adults. Experience in advocacy, coalition building, or community organizing. Spanish language proficiency. Travel Travel is expected approximately 5–10% annually, including participation in the Ignatian Family Teach‑In for Justice each fall and other ecological leadership programs and partner meetings throughout the year. Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $65,000 and is dependent on experience and geographic location.
