Account Director, HS&E

Job Summary HS&E is seeking an Account Director to further develop our brand consulting practice and lead our B2B brand partnership teams. The Director will report directly to the SVP of the brand consulting division and is based in New York, NY. The role involves leading account teams, developing and managing brand initiatives for select B2B clients, and contributing to their professional growth. Responsibilities 40% Client Management & Strategic Leadership: Develop, maintain and advance professional relationships with B2B clients and partner agencies. Establish senior level relationships with key client partners. Manage the development of B2B client strategies and objectives, working closely with clients to continuously update or revise based on brand, business, and customer needs. Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform brand strategy development. Drive new partnership solutions to deliver on B2B clients’ goals. Evaluate current health of client business via analysis of relevant business metrics (ROI/ROO) and introduce advanced measurement solutions and customer insights. Provide insights and recommendations to optimize brand strategies and campaigns. Track and analyze brand performance metrics such as brand awareness, lead generation, and customer satisfaction. Monitor marketplace, identify new pursuits, and present opportunities to grow clients’ existing portfolio. Ensure client portfolios are managed to the highest standards. Manage complex client issues requiring difficult solutions and provide written responses. Write and provide thought leadership on key industry topics as requested by clients. 20% Business Operations: Lead an account team in the management and implementation of clients’ marketing campaigns and client portfolios. Oversee negotiation processes to ensure client objectives are met, partnerships yield positive ROI, and budgets are secured. Oversee partnership operations, ensuring effective communication and productive organizational structure. Delegate day‑to‑day responsibilities to team members. Develop partnership concepts and strategies for clients using creative and innovative thinking. Communicate client projections and revenues to finance in a timely manner; address billing issues. Facilitate communication with internal counterparts, vendors, rights holders, and upper management. Regularly communicate with agency partners to ensure partnership strategy aligns with the larger media strategy. 20% Staff Development: Build and maintain a positive, dynamic agency culture, including team‑building efforts and social activities. Manage the professional development of each direct report, set career goals, track performance, and hold team members accountable. Improve skill sets, remove barriers to effectiveness, and provide constructive feedback in real time. Contribute to agency people functions such as staff reviews, quarterly check‑ins, training needs, action plans, workload monitoring, and leadership escalation. Lead interview processes for new candidates. 20% Business Strategy and Development: Identify growth opportunities within the current brand portfolio to increase scope and fees. Support HS&E’s new business efforts with strategic solutions, insights, and concept development. Qualifications – Who You Are Team‑spirited and collaborative, reaching client objectives. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment, managing multiple partnerships and activations. Proven leader, experienced in team management. Passionate about the live events landscape and staying innovative. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Innovative thinker capable of developing creative ideas for activations. Strong written, listening, communicating, and presenting skills. Solutions‑oriented, proactive problem solver with foresight and creative solutions. Experience with sponsorship measurement techniques. Advocate for and supporter of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Preferred Skills & Experience Minimum 7–9 years of marketing and sponsorship experience at an agency, team, league, rights holder, or brand with a proven performance record. Bachelor’s Degree. Experience working with sports sponsorships and live entertainment. Strong understanding of B2B marketing principles and strategies; direct experience across B2B brands. Experience managing relationships with clients, agencies, vendors, and stakeholders. Strategic and creative thinking and clear communication. Solutions-oriented focus on proactive problem solving and advanced troubleshooting. Excellent time management, written and oral communication skills. Experience managing a staff of at least three account team members. Ability to operate with urgency and motivate others. Travel availability for activations and client meetings. High proficiency with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $140,000.00 – $165,000.00. The role may include a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plans, company‑paid holidays, unlimited paid time off, mental health and wellness resources, pet insurance, childcare resources, identity theft insurance, fertility assistance programs, and fitness reimbursement.
