Assistant Branch Manager

How You Can Make a Difference The Assistant Branch Manager supports the daily operations of the branch, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards while maintaining a strong focus on member service and operational accuracy. This role actively coaches and develops staff, drives sales performance, and serves as a key leader in fostering a positive, mission‑aligned team culture. The Assistant Branch Manager also exercises independent judgment to resolve issues, supports lending functions, and steps in for the Branch Manager as needed. Here are ways we help employees live their best lives: Base Pay: Salary range of $29.55 (minimum) to $44.32 (maximum), with a midpoint of $36.93. Commission / Incentive Pay: Eligible for monthly and quarterly bonuses. Paid Time Off: All Verity employees receive 11 paid holidays per year and PTO (combined vacation and sick leave) starts accruing at 20 days per year. Option to enroll in a 401(k) plan with up to 6% employer match. Annual cash bonuses up to 1% and a 1% profit‑sharing bonus to 401(k) accounts based on company performance. Essential Job Functions Member Services & Sales Promote credit union services and actively cross‑sell relevant products. Build and maintain strong relationships with business and community partners. Represent Verity at community events to increase visibility and engagement. Coach and motivate employees to achieve monthly sales goals. Educate staff on promotional campaigns, sales targets, and strategic objectives. Compliance, Risk, and Security Enforce adherence to account policies, procedures, and security protocols. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of proper robbery response procedures. Conduct monthly, quarterly, semi‑annual, and annual audits in coordination with Internal Audit. Oversee ATM and cash vault operations, ensuring accuracy in general ledger accounts. Operations & Branch Management Perform cash handling duties and serve as back‑up and vault teller as needed. Step in for the Branch Manager when necessary to ensure smooth operations. Communicate branch needs and employee concerns to leadership proactively. Analyze team performance metrics and partner with the Branch Manager to meet service and production goals. Maintain consistent presence during regular business hours. Work flexible hours, including Saturdays and off‑site meetings, as required. Travel to attend meetings and participate in off‑site training opportunities. Leadership & Supervision Lead by example through independent judgment, initiative, and progressive responsibility. Organize and facilitate engaging branch meetings. Prepare and deliver impactful employee performance reviews. Recognize and celebrate employee contributions. Deliver real‑time coaching, feedback, and performance improvement plans. Foster a positive team culture aligned with Verity’s Mission and Values. Support employee development through ongoing performance management, training, and counseling. Communication & Interpersonal Skills Communicate clearly and confidently in both oral and written formats. Navigate difficult conversations using diplomacy, tact, and empathy. Connect effectively with a diverse range of members and staff. Lending & Other Originate, process, and make informed credit decisions as a designated Lending Officer. Complete other job‑related tasks as assigned. Qualifications And Requirements Education and Experience Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or higher in Business, Finance, or related field – preferred (equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered). Minimum of 3 years of experience in a financial institution, preferably a credit union. Successful completion of Member Consultant II requirements, or equivalent experience in a member‑facing financial services role. Demonstrated leadership potential through informal coaching, mentoring, training support, or leading initiatives; supervisory experience preferred. Strong understanding of state and federal financial industry regulations. Must be bondable and able to obtain and maintain an NMLS license, Notary Public commission, and Medallion Signature Guarantee. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Operational Excellence: Leads daily branch operations with precision, ensuring accuracy in cash handling, audits, and vault functions. Regulatory and Policy Compliance: Implements credit union policies, security protocols, and regulatory requirements with diligence and integrity. Member Experience & Relationship Building: Delivers personalized service by building strong relationships and responding to member needs with empathy and cultural awareness. Sales Leadership: Drives sales performance by coaching staff, setting clear goals, and promoting product solutions aligned with member needs. Leadership and Team Development: Develops and motivates team members through consistent coaching, clear feedback, and values‑based leadership. Strategic Judgment and Problem Solving: Applies critical thinking and data analysis to solve complex issues and improve branch operations. Communication: Communicates with clarity, respect, and professionalism in all interactions; builds trust and resolves conflict diplomatically. Adaptability and Accountability: Demonstrates integrity, self‑discipline, and openness to feedback; adapts quickly to shifting priorities and staffing needs. Financial and Lending Acumen: Executes lending procedures and credit decisions with accuracy; applies foundational knowledge of financial products and risk guidelines. Physical Considerations Effectively communicate with diverse staff, members, and vendors. Ability to travel within an assigned market. Ability to lift and carry 30 pounds. Ability to visually recognize and verify funds for endorsements and negotiability. Working Conditions Sitting or standing for long periods of time. Working on computers for a long period of time in an office environment. Must be able to work Saturday hours. May be required to attend off‑hours and off‑site meetings.
