Associate Attorney

Associate AttorneyA Houston-based law firm is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its litigation team. The attorney will work directly on complex litigation and arbitration matters involving financial services and securities, oil and gas, commercial real estate, and healthcare.ResponsibilitiesHandle complex civil litigation and arbitration matters from inception through resolution.Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents.Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, regulations, and case law.Advise clients regarding legal rights, obligations, and litigation strategies.Participate in negotiations, depositions, hearings, arbitrations, and other proceedings.Handle matters involving trade secrets, non-compete agreements, unfair competition, business defamation, and tortious interference.Communicate effectively with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and other parties.Manage multiple matters while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality work.QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.Active Texas Bar admission or eligibility for timely admission.3-5 years of litigation experience.Strong litigation and/or arbitration experience.Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.Experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and client communications.Strong analytical skills and professional judgment.Ability to manage multiple matters independently and work effectively within a team.Strong commitment to client service, professionalism, and continued legal development.Spanish language skills are highly preferredCompensation & BenefitsBillable Hours Bonus: $8,000 per additional 100 hours billed and collected above 1,800 hours annually, prorated.Performance Bonus: Discretionary bonus typically ranging from $8,000-$15,000 based on overall performance.401(k) matching.Paid in-building parking.Paid health insurance for the employee, with discounted coverage for dependents.Paid CLE and bar dues.Opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and involvement in sophisticated litigation matters.
