About the Position

Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Surgical Specialty Unit – Kansas

Start Date: December 14, 2026

Location: Overland Park, Kansas

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 48 hours guaranteed per week; requires every 3rd weekend, and two Mondays and two Fridays per 4-week scheduling period. No on-call requirements.

• 20-bed private room unit specializing in surgical specialty care with 4:1 patient ratios (5:1 with patient care tech support)
• High-paced surgical unit supporting Center of Excellence designations in Colorectal and Robotic Surgery, plus MBSAQIP certification in Bariatric Surgery

• Advanced post-operative care including ostomy management, wound care, central line management, JP drains, and nutritional supplementation
• Meditech electronic medical record system with modern equipment including Alaris IV/PCA pumps, telemetry monitoring, and wound vac therapy
• Floating limited to similar medical/surgical/telemetry units within the facility

Requirements:

• Active RN license in Kansas or compact state eligibility
• Medical-surgical nursing experience required
• Strong understanding of post-operative patient care
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency in procedures including IV starts, blood administration, Foley catheter placement, NG tube management, and ostomy care
• Ability to work in a high-paced surgical environment
