Maintenance Mechanic Lead

Job TitleOversees work of mechanics and vendors at Sartori Campus and Arrowhead. Performs maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment and systems in the health system. Works according to diagrams, sketches, operations manuals and manufacturer's specifications. Uses hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments. Adheres to MercyOne Healthcare's performance expectations and performs all defined services and other related duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values.Major Areas of Responsibility/FunctionsAssists manager in overseeing daily operations of department.Serves as a resource to others in area of responsibility and expertise.Troubleshoots and addresses questions from staff and others in completing daily activities. Either directs next steps or resolves.Familiar with regulatory requirements and assists with/coordinates the preparation for inspections by various regulatory agencies and assure compliance (CARF, JCAHO…).Communicates to manager departmental updates and reports problems on an ongoing basis.Offers suggestions to improve services and viable options to resolve problems.Contributes to departmental policy and procedural revisionsDevelops and updates staff schedules.Reconciles time sheets on a weekly basis.Resolves daily staffing shortages.Provides insight for staff performance evaluation and competency assessment.Encourages staff and contributes to staff developmental plan.Ensures that new employees are oriented to department/job and that initial competency is assessed and documented.Provides ongoing training on equipment and procedural changes.Determines the equipment needed to perform specific job.Performs repair work.Documents work performed on work order and presents to clerical support staff for record keeping.Monitors equipment.Knowledgeable of medical gas systems.Knowledgeable of heating and cooling systems.Attends required safety programs.Appropriately and consistently uses the personal protective equipment required of the job.Knows and can demonstrate departmental emergency procedures for fire, disaster and other emergency situations.Reports and removes unsafe equipment/furniture.Asks for assistance when needed to assure safety for all involved.Maintains a safe working environment and practices safe working habits.Education and Experience RequirementsHighschool Diploma3-4 years experience in the industrial environmentCertifications/License RequirementsValid IA driver's license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR). Mandatory Reporter. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities RequiredIntermediate language, basic math, high reasoning ability. Ability to lead and direct others. Ability to read and interpret blueprints. Ability to prioritize tasks appropriately. Strong leadership skills.Equipment Operated/Working ConditionsVarious hand and power toolsMay be exposed to areas that are hot or extremely dirty. Exposure to seasonal weather conditions. The tasks of this job may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
