POSITION SUMMARY

Sterling Foods is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Accounts Payable Specialist to support the Finance team in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This position will play an important role in processing vendor invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting daily Accounts Payable operations.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on Accounts Payable experience, particularly in invoice processing, payment preparation, and vendor account reconciliation. The successful candidate must be able to learn processes quickly, work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and consistently deliver accurate results with minimal ramp-up time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform general Accounts Payable functions, including processing vendor invoices, maintaining accurate transaction records, and organizing supporting documentation.
• Review, code, and enter invoices into the appropriate financial systems, ensuring accuracy and proper account allocation.
• Verify invoices against purchase orders, receiving records, and other supporting documentation, as applicable.
• Research, investigate, and resolve invoice discrepancies, payment issues, and other Accounts Payable-related inquiries.
• Reconcile vendor statements and assist in maintaining accurate vendor account balances.
• Prepare and process vendor payments in accordance with established procedures and payment schedules.
• Review financial transactions and supporting documentation for accuracy, completeness, and proper recording.
• Perform data entry and maintain organized, accurate, and accessible financial records.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel and other financial systems to track, review, and maintain Accounts Payable information.
• Communicate professionally with vendors and internal departments to research and resolve invoice and payment-related issues.
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling financial and vendor information.
• Assist with other Finance department responsibilities and special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Minimum of two (2) years of Accounts Payable experience, preferably in a high-volume environment.
• Experience processing vendor invoices, preparing payments, and reconciling vendor accounts is preferred.
• Working knowledge of general Accounts Payable processes, including invoice verification, expense coding, discrepancy research, payment processing, and vendor account maintenance.

• Ability to work independently, exercise initiative, and follow through on assigned responsibilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while meeting established deadlines.
