CNC Machinist - 2nd Shift

CNC Machinist – Moorpark, CA (2nd Shift). This role reports to the Machine Shop Supervisor and is responsible for fabricating precision‑machined parts using CNC machining centers and lathes. The position will handle tasks ranging from prototype to production runs, ensuring high‑quality standards and precision. Responsibilities Evaluate blueprints and develop machining strategies. Identify and select appropriate tooling for hardware. Design and create fixturing to support machining operations. Perform first‑piece machine setups for inspection readiness. Verify part conformance using precision measuring equipment. Adjust tools and offsets based on cutting conditions. Apply proper methodology, feeds, speeds, and cutting parameters for various materials (aluminum, steel, stainless steel, titanium, etc.). Set up multi‑spindle lathes with live tooling. Set up 5‑axis mills through first‑part verification. Re‑vise programs as needed based on engineering or production changes. Troubleshoot CNC programming and production issues on the shop floor. Machine both prototype (one‑off) and production hardware. Deburr parts as necessary. Perform other related duties as required. Qualifications Minimum high school education or equivalent. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing. Must meet all ITAR and BATFE background requirements. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints. Minimum 5 years’ experience with multi‑axis CNC lathes and mills. Strong background in complex machine setups. Minimum 5 years’ experience running manual mills and lathes with little to no supervision (preferred). Experience machining titanium, stainless steel, aluminum, plastics, and other standard aerospace materials. Experience with CNC Swiss‑type (screw machines) – a plus. Experience with ESPRIT or Mastercam programming software – a plus. Knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and inspection tools. Ability to work independently; prior lead experience a plus. Compensation Salary Range: $60,000 – $90,000 per year, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and market data.
