Job Description:The Imaging Scheduler is responsible for the prioritization and scheduling of patient examinations and patient instruction concerning preparation and timetable. This position is also responsible for answering phones and directing calls as necessary.Job DetailsBenefits Eligible: No, PRN (as needed)Shift/Schedule: Provide coverage for available shifts as needed. Shifts are available Sunday through Saturday and may be 5-hour or 10-hour shifts. Start times range from 5:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., with shifts beginning every hour thereafter.Unit/Location: Imaging Services at Pedersen Tower, Utah Valley Hospital and Utah Valley Outpatient Center (located on the same campus)Additional Details: Weekend and holiday coverage is required on a rotating basis. We strive to distribute these assignments fairly across the team. This PRN role is best suited for candidates with broad availability to support departmental staffing needs.Essential FunctionsSchedules patients for examination and gives instructions regarding exam preparation.Coordinates emergency and add-on examinations with technical staff and radiologists.Prioritizes patient examinations and coordinates multiple examinations with other areas.Provides information concerning examination content, pre-examination instructions, and timetables.Acts as a liaison between physician offices and department concerning needed preps, medical necessity, information, and problems.Answers calls that come into the department and routes them to appropriate personnel.SkillsAnswering TelephonesDirecting CallsCustomer ServiceSchedulingData EntryPhysician OfficesMedical TerminologyPrioritizationRadiologyWorkforce PlanningQualificationsExperience using computers in an office setting or doing data entry.- and –Demonstrated customer service experienceMedical terminology or training (preferred)Experience in a Radiology setting (preferred)Bilingual (preferred)Physical RequirementsOngoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
