Description

The Leasing Coordinator reports to the Supervisor of the Leasing Department within a property management organization. This position is primarily responsible for communicating with housing applicants and collecting all required documentation related to the unit(s) for which they may qualify. The Leasing Coordinator works closely with the Leasing Supervisor and other staff involved in lease-up activities, where applicable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the first point of contact for all housing applicants.
• Contact applicants on the waiting list in a courteous and professional manner.
• Must have experience with affordable housing programs, including LIHTC/HOME, market-rate and rent-stabilized housing, public housing, local housing agency programs, housing voucher programs, and homeless set-aside programs.
• Track and document all applicant responses on the waiting list.
• Generate and track denial and outcome letters.
• Demonstrate professionalism through a positive, cooperative attitude while maintaining the confidentiality of applicants and related information.
• Proactively identify opportunities to improve and streamline the waiting list process.
• Perform other duties and assignments as requested.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma and a minimum of three years of related experience leasing affordable housing units or in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Ability to listen to and understand applicants' needs.
• Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus.
