Position Overview

A well-respected and established law firm in Kansas City, Missouri is seeking a highly skilled Civil Litigation Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in supporting attorneys through all phases of litigation. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong written communication, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

? Key Responsibilities

• Case File Management - Maintain and organize litigation files, track deadlines, and ensure compliance with court rules and procedures.
• Document Preparation - Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and case summaries.
• Discovery Support - Collect, review, and organize documents; prepare exhibit lists; coordinate document production; summarize depositions and medical or business records.
• Court & Attorney Support - Assist attorneys with hearing preparation, trial notebooks, witness coordination, and courtroom logistics.
• Client & Witness Communication - Communicate professionally with clients, experts, and witnesses to gather information, schedule meetings, and provide case updates.
• Scheduling & Coordination - Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and meetings with courts, opposing counsel, and third parties.
• Legal Research - Conduct basic legal research and cite-check documents as needed.

? Required Qualifications

• Experience - 3-5+ years of civil litigation paralegal experience in a law firm setting.
• Education - Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience preferred.
• Technical Skills - Proficiency with Microsoft Office, case-management software, and electronic filing systems for Missouri state and federal courts.
• Professional Skills - Strong writing, organization, time management, and attention to detail; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Knowledge Base - Solid understanding of civil litigation procedures, discovery rules, and trial preparation.

? Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with complex litigation or high-volume caseloads.
• Familiarity with Kansas and Missouri state court procedures.
• Experience preparing trial exhibits and assisting in trial settings.
• Notary certification.
