Accounting Associate

This is a contract to hire opportunity to join a growing company in Tampa, FL. Provide accounting support within the accounting department while following GAAP and SOX compliances. This role will report into the Division Controller but also take direction from the Accounting Manager or Senior Accountant.  

salary: $23 - $24 per hour
shift: First
work hours: 8 AM - 4:30 PM

Responsibilities

• Reconcile bank statements to accounting general ledger
• Assist accounting personnel with general accounting duties
• Verify, organize and store company financial records on approved company shared drives
• Deposit checks and post payments to the general ledger
• Investigate accounting discrepancies
• Cross train to provide back up support for issuing vendor payments
• Reconcile general ledger balance sheet accounts
• Special projects as assigned
• Assist in preparation of department procedural manual as needed
• Prepares analysis of accounts, as required
• Assist with month end close and ensure all deadlines are met

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• AA/AS Degree in Accounting preferred or 1 year of prior accounting experience
• Knowledge of accounting principles
• 1-2 years preferred experience with D365 or similar software
• Ability to prioritize and to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
