Molding Setup Technician

Location: Fairview, PA Industry: Manufacturing / Injection Molding Position Type: Full-Time Position Overview We are seeking an experienced and mechanically inclined Molding Setup Technician for a manufacturing opportunity in Fairview, PA. The Molding Setup Technician is responsible for performing mold changes, machine set-ups, start-ups, shut-downs, and adjustments within a production molding environment. This position plays an important role in keeping production running efficiently by ensuring molds and equipment are properly installed, configured, and operating according to established process and quality requirements. The ideal candidate will have previous plastic injection molding experience, strong mechanical aptitude, and the ability to troubleshoot molding, tooling, and equipment issues in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities Perform mold set-ups, changeovers, start-ups, and shut-downs on injection molding equipment Safely install, remove, and change molds according to production requirements Prepare machines and related equipment for scheduled production runs Make necessary machine and process adjustments to maintain efficient production Troubleshoot molding, equipment, and process issues to minimize downtime Assist with process optimization and corrective adjustments Verify proper mold installation, connections, alignment, and machine settings Monitor equipment following start-up to ensure proper operation and product quality Identify and communicate tooling, mold, machine, or process problems Assist production and quality personnel with troubleshooting defects and process concerns Maintain proper documentation related to mold changes and machine set-ups Use hand tools and other equipment safely and appropriately Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area Follow established safety procedures, work instructions, and company policies Perform additional production and molding-related duties as required Qualifications Previous plastic injection molding experience required/preferred Previous mold setup, mold change, processing, or related manufacturing experience strongly preferred High school diploma or GED Strong mechanical aptitude Understanding of mold construction and basic mold function Experience performing mold changes and machine set-ups Ability to troubleshoot molding and equipment issues Ability to follow written work instructions and production procedures Ability to use common hand tools safely Basic math and measurement skills Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability Ability to work independently and as part of a production team Reliable attendance and strong work ethic Submission to a criminal background check Preferred Skills Injection molding machine setup and processing experience Experience with mold changes and process optimization Knowledge of injection molding processes and terminology Experience troubleshooting molding defects and equipment problems Familiarity with automated manufacturing equipment Mechanical maintenance or repair experience Experience working with molds, tooling, auxiliary equipment, and material-handling systems Ability to recognize and correct process conditions affecting product quality Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to bend, twist, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday Ability to work around industrial machinery and molding equipment Ability to safely handle tools and production equipment Ability to lift and move materials, tooling, and equipment within established safety guidelines Ability to perform repetitive physical and mechanical tasks Ability to work in a manufacturing environment requiring appropriate personal protective equipment What We Offer Competitive pay Full-time employment opportunity Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Opportunities for advancement Stable, team-oriented manufacturing environment If you have injection molding experience, strong mechanical abilities, and experience setting up and troubleshooting production equipment, we encourage you to apply!
