Production Control Supervisor

Department Purpose:
The main goal of Production Control (PC) is to ensure that all resources and manpower available are utilized in the best way possible to achieve optimum performance of our production system. In order to support this goal, the PC Department is responsible for receiving customer orders, procuring raw materials, scheduling based on both short and long term capacities, preparing customer shipments and managing transportation lanes both inbound and outbound. This requires PC to monitor the timely receipt of raw materials, track production results and troubleshoot issues by making adjustments as needed. In order to ensure Just-in-time manufacturing (JIT manufacturing), PC works to improve communication with customers in order to reduce finished goods inventory as well as communication with suppliers to reduce raw material inventory.
Position Purpose:
Support production control and shipping activities to ensure accurate production planning and inventory control.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Partner with Production Management in the development of schedules for equipment, raw materials, and manpower with respect to customer demand versus resource capabilities and availability.
- Establish and maintain appropriate inventory levels for all raw material and finished good products in support of a just-in-time (JIT) production schedule.
- Develop schedule for Cycle Counts using the company plan and systems.
- Develop and procure support based on inventory variances.
- Correct and investigate inventory variances and determine root cause.
- Perform duties associated with physical inventory administration, final variance analysis, and implementing countermeasures for discrepancies.
- Develop short-term production plan based on customer shipment schedule.
- Develop and procure packaging based on customer specifications
- Develop strategy for replenishing raw materials and supplies from domestic and international suppliers to support production using the company plan.
- Develop, maintain, and initiate new part numbers in association with TICA Customers, QA Department, Logistics, and Production using the company plan.
- Develop and maintain bill of materials using the company plan.
- Perform job duties in compliance with all state and federal regulations and guidelines including OSHA and EPA. Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Follow all aspects of the site Environmental Policy as it pertains to normal job duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, Experience, & Abilities:
- Associate’s degree in Materials Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration or related field is required with at least three years working experience in production control/planning function or inventory control in a manufacturing environment. If no degree, five years’ experience in related field.
- Experience applying TPS, JIT, 5S, and other Lean Manufacturing methodologies under a continuous improvement (Kaizen) philosophy.
- Must have advanced knowledge of MS Excel and other MS Office programs.
- Experience with AS400, Power Link, and ITEMS is very helpful.
- Experience with inventory management systems (MRP) is required.
- Experience with back flush locations and material transfers.
- Knowledge of, or experience in, designing, development, and/or implementing cycle count systems.
- Must be fluent in written and spoken English.
- Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-cultural, team oriented environment.
Supervisor:
- Bachelor Degree or Equivalent Experience preferred , Associates Degree is required
- Expressed knowledge, skill, and abilities for independent contribution and project management.
- 5 years or more demonstrated experience in related field and role for successful independent contribution and full cycle project management.
- Increasingly independent judgment applied to determining techniques, procedures and criteria to solve problems.
- Evaluates problem, determines necessary resources, determines best methods and successfully solves problems.
- Accomplishes significant phases of larger projects and may be involved in the initial planning of major projects; contributes effectively to cross-functional teams.
- Performs broad range of work that requires increased creativity/ingenuity.
- Takes on assignments that require greater investigation and research.
- Displays communication skills that successfully informs management how a change of existing structure, practice or programs can benefit the organization.
- Works on G&Os as they relate to Department Go and cover area where experience is most prevalent.
- Applies the PDCA cycle to daily work processes & aspects of TICO Drive & Dedication.
- Is involved in department schedules and budget completion.
- Independently applies Continuous Improvement, Kaizen, and Standardization practices.
- Promote and foster activities and communication to create and maintain good associate morale.
- Set example and confirm associates adhere to safety rules, regulations and procedures.
- Promote kaizen activities, SEQDCM, lead team members on department G&O's.
Physical Requirements:
- The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
- The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move at least 10 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
