Project Administrator

Utilities, Inc. is a prime contractor specializing in underground utility construction, with a strong focus on water main and sanitary sewer installation using TOTAL TRENCHLESS™ and open cut methods. Since 1981, the company has delivered complex projects for telecommunications providers, water and sewer authorities, municipalities, and state departments of roads. Its services include directional boring, jack and bore, aerial construction, fiber splicing, sewer CCTV and cleaning, CIPP lining, pipe bursting, slip lining, and road construction. The company’s experienced management team brings extensive public and private sector expertise and aims to exceed expectations on every project. Role Description The Project Administrator is a full-time, on-site role based in Detroit, MI. This position supports project managers and field teams by coordinating project documentation, maintaining schedules, and organizing contracts, permits, and change orders. Daily responsibilities include updating project tracking systems, preparing reports, processing invoices and purchase orders, and communicating with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders. The role also involves maintaining accurate records, assisting with bid preparation, ensuring compliance with company procedures, and supporting project close-out activities. The Project Administrator collaborates closely with construction and operations teams to keep projects organized, on schedule, and aligned with company standards. Qualifications Strong administrative and organizational skills, including document management, record keeping, and attention to detail. Project coordination abilities, such as scheduling, tracking milestones, and supporting project managers on multiple concurrent projects. Proficiency with office software (e.g., \"Microsoft Office Suite\"), project management or ERP tools, and basic data entry/reporting. Effective written and verbal communication skills for interacting with internal teams, clients, and vendors in a professional manner. Basic understanding of construction or utility industry processes and terminology; prior experience in construction administration is a plus. Ability to work on-site in Detroit, MI, manage time effectively, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
