Veterinary Practice Partners (VPP) is seeking an experienced veterinarian who is interested in partnering on a practice ownership opportunity in the Greater Sacramento area. Whether you are already thinking about ownership or just beginning to explore the idea, we would love to connect with veterinarians who are excited about leading a practice, building a talented team, and creating something lasting.

We are actively exploring a vacant veterinary hospital space in the Greater Sacramento market and are looking for a veterinarian who wants to become both a Medical Director and an owner. Rather than starting with a traditional ground-up build, this opportunity offers an existing veterinary space while giving you the ability to build the practice from the beginning. You will have the opportunity to help shape the hospital's medical approach, build your team, and create the culture and long-term vision for the practice.

Salary: Competitive base salary plus production, Medical Director stipend, monthly profit distributions, and long-term equity value creation

VPP provides operational, financial, HR, recruiting, and marketing support so you can focus on clinical excellence, building your team, and growing the practice.

Primary Medical Director Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership

• Establish and uphold medical standards and protocols
• Lead effective case flow and clinical decision-making
• Ensure high-quality patient care and clear client communication
• Oversee medical record accuracy and charge capture
• Identify and implement clinical service enhancements

Team and Practice Leadership

• Help recruit, hire, and onboard veterinarians and support staff
• Build and develop a strong clinical team
• Mentor associate veterinarians and support continued clinical development
• Contribute to operational strategy and scheduling
• Foster a collaborative, team-first culture
• Help shape the hospital's identity and long-term vision

Financial Oversight

• Drive revenue growth while maintaining medical excellence
• Participate in annual planning and performance review
• Support marketing and community engagement initiatives

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree or equivalent
• Active California veterinary license or ability to obtain
• 3+ years clinical experience preferred
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Interest in practice ownership and building a hospital for long-term growth
