LOCKSMITH I (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY)

Job Title Locksmith I (Correctional Facility) Compensation $5,964 - $7,144 per month. Job Description Under the direction of the Central Services Captain, performs skilled work as a locksmith; installs, repairs, and maintains cylinder and bit key locks, padlocks, opens locks, changes lock combinations, repairs or replaces tumblers, springs, and other parts; keeps records and inventories keys; performs related door inspection, doorknobs, and door strikes; orders and stores material for the Lock Shop; maintains security of working areas and work materials; responsible to maintain the safety of persons and property. Employment Type 12‑month limited term, may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent. Responsibilities Install, repair, and maintain cylinder and bit key locks, padlocks, and other locking devices. Open locks, change combinations, repair or replace tumblers, springs, and other parts. Maintain accurate records and inventories of keys. Inspect doors, doorknobs, and strikes and report needed repairs. Order and store materials for the lock shop. Maintain security of working areas and materials, ensuring safety of people and property. Minimum Qualifications See Class Specification for minimum qualifications.
