Details Med/Surg unit within a Level 1 Trauma academic medical center 10-bed unit with an average daily census of 8 patients RN to patient ratio of 1:5 and CNA ratio of 1:10 Cares for a variety of Med/Surg patients including DM, respiratory and GI illnesses, neuro and trauma surgery patients with spinal precautions Manages pre and post CT surgery (CABG) and clean cath lab patients, including TR band management 12-hour day shifts from 0700-1900, 36 hours per week Works an every-other-weekend (EOW) rotation No on-call or call-back requirements Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing Telemetry monitors are located bedside and RN reads and interprets cardiac strips Floating required to Rehab, 4 Ardmore, 10 Reynolds, 9 Reynolds, 5 Ardmore, Burn-10 North, and 4A MedSurg Overflow Requirements Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg-Tele experience within the last year Travel experience preferred Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, PCA pump management, surgical drain care, and wound care Must be comfortable managing TR bands and learning to manage Cardizem, Nitro, and Amio drips Experience with Epic EMR required Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration At least 1 professional reference dated within the past year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN Additional Information Provide direct nursing care within a busy academic medical center with a friendly unit culture Support staff includes CNAs, unit receptionist/HUC, and a charge nurse who may occasionally carry a full patient assignment 24/7 access to respiratory therapy, hospitalist, and intensivist support RN performs own peripheral IV starts as there is no dedicated IV/VAT team Unit-specific equipment includes external fixators, chest tubes, PCAs, trachs, and complex wound care supplies Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation Royal blue scrub color required Free parking available onsite Clinical interview required prior to placement Travelers will be required to work 75% of holidays First-time travelers may be considered given travel experience is preferred Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible Previous employees must have been separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year following a permanent position American Traveler Job ID P-731879.
