Strategic Account Manager - Freight Forwarding

Our client, a well-established global logistics and freight forwarding organization, is seeking a Strategic Account Manager to join its Torrance, California team. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced logistics professional with a strong operations background who is looking to transition into a more commercially focused role. The Strategic Account Manager will initially focus on managing and growing existing customer relationships, learning the commercial side of the business, and identifying opportunities to expand the services provided to existing accounts. Over time, the role will transition toward developing new business and generating additional revenue. This position is ideal for someone who understands the operational side of international logistics and wants to leverage that knowledge to build stronger customer relationships and develop a career in sales and account management. Key Responsibilities Manage and develop existing customer relationships to ensure strong retention and continued account growth. Serve as a key point of contact for assigned customers and understand their logistics and supply chain requirements. Identify opportunities to expand existing business across the organization’s full portfolio of logistics services. Work closely with operations, pricing, and internal support teams to develop solutions tailored to customer needs. Leverage operational knowledge to identify service improvements and additional business opportunities. Prepare and present logistics solutions and proposals to customers and prospects. Maintain accurate customer and opportunity information within Salesforce CRM. Monitor customer activity, business trends, and account performance to identify opportunities for growth. Participate in customer meetings, business reviews, and sales presentations. Develop a strong understanding of customer supply chains, decision-making processes, and business objectives. Gradually transition into a greater focus on new business development and prospecting. Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a smooth customer onboarding and implementation process. Maintain regular communication with customers and proactively address service concerns or opportunities. Support the development and execution of account growth strategies. The Strategic Account Manager will have the opportunity to support and sell a full range of logistics services, including: Air freight Customs brokerage Ground transportation Warehousing and distribution Other integrated logistics and supply chain solutions Qualifications Experience within the international freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain industry. Strong operational background with a desire to move into a commercially focused position. Solid understanding of international logistics and customer supply chain requirements. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Ability to identify customer needs and translate operational challenges into logistics solutions. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple customer relationships and priorities. Comfortable working collaboratively with operations, pricing, and other internal teams.
