Music Instructor

Required Qualifications Master's in music OR Bachelor's in music AND Master's in humanities OR The equivalent - Candidates not possessing the required qualifications as stated above, must complete the supplemental page of the district application and explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR Valid California community college credential in appropriate subject. Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of college students, and of individuals with disabilities. Desired Qualifications Previous college-level teaching experience in music with an emphasis on band performance. Compensation and Benefits Salary Range: $44.79 - $72.27 per hour (depending upon education and experience) Part‑time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. Conditions of Employment Part‑time teaching assignment. Assignment may include teaching during days, evenings or weekends. A teaching demonstration may be required during the interview process. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), transcripts, fingerprint results, and tuberculosis examination as required. Candidates selected for employment will be required to provide verification of work authorization in the form of a passport, valid driver's license, or other equivalent identification, and social security card. Environment Driving a vehicle to conduct work. Evening or variable hours. Physical Demands Seldom = Less than 25 percent Occasional = 25–50 percent Very Frequent = 76 percent and above Ability to work at a desk, conference table or in meetings of various configurations. Ability to sit for extended periods of time. Ability to see for purposes of reading printed matter and observing students. Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
