Kindergarten Teacher
Durham Academy is accepting applications for a permanent full-time Kindergarten teacher to begin November 12, 2026. The Preschool serves approximately 100 students in grades Pre-K and Kindergarten. Our Preschool classrooms have 18 students with a lead classroom teacher and a teaching assistant. This position reports to the Preschool Director.
Specific Responsibilities Include:
- Setting learning goals and planning developmentally appropriate and engaging lessons
- Preparing instructional materials
- Leading whole and small group instruction and providing intervention, as needed
- Assessing student performance and growth
- Maintaining communication with families
- Carrying out required supervisory duties
- Performing other duties as requested by the division director
Minimum Requirements Include:
- A bachelor's degree (preferably in education)
- At least three years of teaching experience in an early childhood classroom
- Experience working with children in an educational environment
- A demonstrated commitment to professional growth, collaboration and collegiality
- A passion and love for meeting the social and academic needs of Preschool students

Founded in 1933, Durham Academy is an all-gender, independent day school with 1,247 students in Pre-kindergarten through grade 12 on three campuses.
