General Foreman

Position Summary Industrial Craft General Foremen are responsible for the work performance of four (4) to six (6) crews of craft discipline workers (each crew typically numbers from 4 to 12 employees, depending on the craft or tasks to be executed). General Foremen have previously demonstrated their ability to manage as a Foreman with a safe, quality adhering, and productive craft discipline crew. Overseen Craft disciplines may be Electrical and Instrumentation(cable tray, wire pulls, terminations, etc.)as specified for the project or client needs. If Specialty Subcontractor resources are required for the execution of the work, General Foreman should be aware of that need, communicate that need to their management, and plan the timing of such resource requirements. General Foremen are responsible and accountable for the safety, quality, and resource allocation requirements of the assigned construction activities in support of the Foreman work fronts. General Foremen are responsible for identifying the Tools, Information, and Material needs of their Foreman's work fronts and communicating those needs in a timely manner to their Superintendent. General Foreman are responsible to plan and work Three Week Look Ahead (3wkLAs) to ensure tools, information, material, equipment, and specialty subcontract needs are identified in advance and that they are available when needed at the Foremen work fronts. Primary Job Functions Coordinate with their Foremen, and the craft in their assigned crews, and any adjacent crews from other disciplines, for the most efficient use of all resources to ensure Safety, Quality, and Productivity Ensure the PLANS of the assigned tasks from the Construction Manager (CM) on down are being followed through daily interaction and at least one (1) formal coordinating meeting per week (General Foreman and Foremen confirming 3wkLAs and needs, issues, etc.) Conduct Job Safety Analysis (JSAs) Audits and Safety Meetings Manage Material and Pipe Tracker, or any discipline applicable quantity tracker, locations for planning and installation Coordinate and ensure work fronts with other disciplines are available per planned work front dates agreed in 3wkLAs Verify that Actual Field Progress claimed matches what is being reported by Foremen Capable of identifying non-constructable items that require Request For Information (RFI) processing, with the ability to recommend fixes for the situation, when appropriate Capable of providing estimates of labor time, material, equipment, or subcontract resources that may be required due to a response from an RFI that may also need to be included in a Change Notification or Change Order for upward communication Qualification Highlights: Electrical craft Foreman must possess electrical license from a state or municipal agency Must be able to read prints and illustrate thorough knowledge of construction procedures and skills relevant to the craft discipline to be managed Must have good leadership, team building, and communication skills Must have prudent and reasonable judgment of the craft personnel and tasks to be executed by them Must be able to support their team with proper feedback and coaching on both things done well and issues that require improvement or re-assessment; key aspects being mentoring and coaching Demonstrate problem solving abilities for disciplines being managed Must have experience on an industrial construction project Must be able to develop performance improvement plans for craft or tasks Must be able to regularly and reliably show up at the assigned job site Must meet all safety and security requirements at the assigned job site Position Responsibilities: Provide a positive and respectful workplace for all employees to contribute to the success of your team Responsible for ensuring a smooth operation in your area of assigned work tasks Ensure safety job assessments and work tasks are evaluated for risks and engage the employees on the identification and mitigation of risks to themselves and others Ensure Stop Work Authority and Incident Reporting expectations are enabled in the team's expectations Understand the quality aspects of the work package, pro-actively manage the work and the craft in their best performance, minimize re-work, and pro-actively coordinate with Quality Control or Quality Assurance personnel, as required, to achieve a "zero-punchlist" or minimal punch list work package deliverable for the organization Read engineered drawings and specifications to plan and coordinate the scope of work or assigned work package for construction or installation Plan and ensure the required tools, information, and material are available for use by your craft team each day Plan and ensure that all required Permits required by the Owner/Client are identified and submitted at least one (1) day prior to need to enable efficient work starts every day Identify and communicate issues with materials that do not meet specifications, fit in required spaces, are lacking expectations of provided Bills of Material (BOM), etc., and be able to communicate the deficiencies to your Supervision in a timely manner Identify and communicate issues with designs that are non-constructable and require timely generation of Requests For Information (RFIs) to ensure constructable designs with efficiency Plan the work and work the plan Specific Duties Daily coordination with their Foreman regarding planned progress and identifying any missing materials, information, or non-constructable items that must be addressed to properly advance the work front(s) AUDIT of each FOREMAN'S DAILY TIMESHEET and DAILY ACTIVITIES REPORT including: Timesheet of Roster and Allocated Work Assignments Work Record Plans Actuals Not executed work and explanations Ensure good Daily Work Descriptions on Daily Timesheets and accurate progress sheets Ensure ample information from FOREMAN on Daily Activities of their crew progress or issues so that higher management levels can intervene when required Pro-active communication with QAQC directly to ensure quality resources are in support of field work being progressed Pro-active communication with Safety in support of field work being progressed Audit Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Tool Box Safety Meetings with their Foreman and crews Ensure Clean and Safe work areas Required Qualifications: Demonstrated industrial construction/maintenance history experience Ability to read prints and construction drawings Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, manufacturers manuals, and instructions Demonstrated knowledge of the craft discipline to be managed Must have 5+ years of experience with the craft discipline to be managed Good problem-solving abilities and craft math skills Good aptitude and manual dexterity Ability to work with others - Team player Ability to work independently - minimal supervision, reliable performer Good communication skills with co-workers and supervisors Commitment to Richard values, safety rules, and regulations Preferred Qualifications: Richard Construction Inc. (RCI) former employee from a Reduction of Force (ROF) National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Certifications Formal/Technical education Candidate Possession of Required Tools: 1 - Safety Toed Boots Physical Requirements: Employee will be required to adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting Will talk and hear in order to communicate effectively Must have good dexterity with hands and fingers to perform the precision adjustments of tools, machinery parts and controls Able to use arms and hands to signal, grad, hold, turn, and push or pull objects such as materials, controls, and tools Will be required to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs in weight Will occasionally work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms Will work at heights up to 300 feet utilizing proper fall protection devices Will use vision abilities to focus, see short distances, see colors, possess depth perception and peripheral vision Must be capable or working outdoors in the elements including but not limited to the heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind Will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, earplugs/muffs, safety vests, gloves, steel toe/safety toe boots, and masks/respirators RCI is dedicated in providing a SAFE and Drug Free environment.
