Departmental Overview The College of Engineering at UC Berkeley is ranked among the top three engineering schools in the world. With more than 258 regular faculty members, 2,451 graduate students and 4,383 undergraduate students across seven academic departments, Engineering is the second largest college on the Berkeley Campus. The College of Engineering Development team supports the college’s mission through marketing, communications, and private fundraising efforts designed to reach over 73,000 alumni, friends, students, foundations, and corporate partners. During the Light the Way campaign the college received $900 million in private gifts and is consistently among the top fundraising units within the university. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development & Corporate Partnerships, the Associate Director of Corporate Partnerships serves as a strategic lead and deputy for the college’s corporate relations program. Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of corporate partners with a focus on securing $1M in annual support. Lead the discovery, cultivation, and solicitation of mid‑level gifts. Develop and execute engagement plans for key industry partners. Oversee development and submission of all corporate foundation grants and reports. Lead strategy and development of one‑pagers, proposals, slide decks, and gift opportunity materials. Partner with college’s academic departments and research programs to build and maintain corporate relationships/partnerships. Develop donor communications (preparation of written materials, drafting donor correspondence, etc.). Lead discovery and stewardship conversations during campus visits, ensuring institutional priorities are clearly communicated to corporate executives. Design and lead high‑touch campus visits for corporate executives, including but not limited to: Develop visit agendas and identify key participants (faculty, students, program staff, etc.) to meet strategic goals. Coordinate participation from a variety of campus stakeholders. Draft executive briefings and ensure that all meeting participants are informed about pertinent information in advance. Ensure a seamless and consistently high‑level experience for top‑tier corporate visitors. Oversee visit logistics with support from the Assistant Director of Corporate Partnerships. Strategic Planning & Program Leadership Serve as the primary development liaison to Engineering Student Services (ESS). Partner with ESS leadership to design and implement corporate engagement models (e.g., diversity initiatives, student orgs) that align industry goals with student success priorities. Serve on ad hoc fundraising subcommittees as needed. Act as the Senior Director’s deputy in high‑level meetings and committees. Participate in short and long‑term strategic planning for the corporate relations team. Strategic Communications & Impact Reporting Lead the development of a "Top 10" corporate partner dashboard/tear sheet system to track and show impact to internal and external stakeholders. Oversee the production of the team’s Annual Impact Report. Develop and maintain an industry partnerships toolkit for Engineering faculty and program leaders. General Support for College of Engineering Corporate Partnerships Operations Serve as a primary point of contact for inbound general corporate relations inquiries, conducting discovery calls with new prospects. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including political acumen, to build and maintain effective working relationships at all organizational levels and with outside constituencies. Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, including skill in creative and effective decision‑making and problem identification/avoidance/resolution. Excellent presentation skills, and an ability to craft compelling narratives for funder audiences. Highly detail oriented with a critical degree of accuracy. Knowledge and understanding of fundraising, donor relations and public relations concepts, principles, techniques, procedures and practices. Knowledge of the campus, including its vision, mission, goals, objectives, achievements, programs, faculty activities, and infrastructure. Outstanding customer service ethic for working with campus donors. Knowledge of computer and database systems, to facilitate research, extract meaningful data for program analysis, and prepare documents and presentation materials. Thorough project‑management skills. Working knowledge of applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies, etc. Salary & Benefits For information on the comprehensive benefits package offered by the University, please visit the University of California's Compensation & Benefits website. Under California law, the University of California, Berkeley is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $112,400 to $163,200 yearly; the full salary range for this title (FUNDRAISER 4) is $112,400 to $214,000 yearly. This is a 100% FTE career position eligible for full benefits. This position is FLSA Exempt and paid monthly.
