Surgical Tech certification required.Blocked scheduling accommodated?NoWeekend RequirementNoOn Call RequirementCan pick up call at Main if desires, but no requirementFloating Requirement / LocationsMUST float as needed within Surgical ServicesPOSITION TITLE: Certified Surgical Technician DEPARTMENT: Surgical Services/Patient Care DivisionPOSITION SUMMARY: An integral member of the surgical team who provides support for surgeons throughout the operation by preparing, providing and caring for instruments and equipment and maintaining a sterile field.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent. Graduation from a school of Surgical Technology preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: BLS certification from AHA required. Surgical Tech certification required.SKILLS: Knowledge of care and handling of instruments and equipment. Knowledge of sterilization and cleansing procedures. Ability to read, write, and communicate verbally in English.EXPERIENCE: One or more years experience in an acute care hospital setting in the operating room or an instrument care environment preferred.NATURE OF SUPERVISION:-Responsible to: Clinical Manager Operating Room and Director, Surgical Services ENVIRONMENT:- Bloodborne pathogens - CEmployee will be instructed in Universal Precautions and Right to Know. Employee will be expected to utilize all protective equipment available whenever there is a potential for exposure to infectious materials or hazardous chemicals. Cleaning, repair and replacement of this protective equipment will be furnished by the hospital. Utilizes available tools to prevent worker injuries.
