RN-Registered Nurse // Manager, Nurse Manager $57.00 - $57.50/hour $2,280.0 - $2,300 weekly base pay Onsite Local Contract Starts 8/03/2026 9 weeks Job Description 8 hours/day 5 days/week Position Summary This position has 24‑hour accountability and is responsible for the delivery of high‑quality and cost‑effective health care while achieving positive clinical outcomes, and patient/family and employee satisfaction. The RN Unit Manager oversees the overall operations, integration, coordination and direction of nursing and patient care for the assigned Unit. The manager ensures care delivery is consistent with the mission, vision, values and policies of Genesis HealthCare and in accordance with accepted standards of practice, state and federal regulations and licensing requirements. Responsibilities include mentoring and educating nurses, working with physicians and other medical professionals, and serving as a resource to all staff within the unit regarding the quality of services provided. The manager may also provide direct patient care along with other unit nurses to maintain current skills. Responsibilities / Accountabilities Administrative: Collaborate with the Director of Nursing to maintain adequate nursing coverage for 24/7 safe nursing care. Utilize existing client resources to limit overtime and agency personnel. Assist in recruitment (interviewing and selection) of nursing personnel. Assess work performance of nursing staff relative to job descriptions, unit standards of care and individual goals. Implement Individual Performance Improvement Plans for staff whose performance does not meet expectations, and recommend or initiate disciplinary action when necessary. Conduct regular staff meetings each shift and provide updates to the Director of Nursing. Collaborate with other departments to provide timely, effective care consistent with patient needs, choices, and preferences. Promote a culture of safety to ensure a healthy practice environment. Participate in nursing committees as requested. Attend meetings to address patient care, survey, and/or standards of care issues. Participate in Center meetings (Utilization Management, Customer at Risk, Care Planning, Quality Improvement, etc.). Submit budget requests. Assume nursing administrative responsibilities for weekend and holiday coverage as requested. Work beyond scheduled shift if needed to meet state staffing requirements and patient needs. Clinical Leadership: Plan, organize, direct, supervise, and evaluate nursing care on the unit to achieve clinical and financial outcomes. Provide professional guidance and supervision to non‑professional unit staff. Ensure patient care assignments align with staff competencies, scope of practice, and patient needs. Ensure timely and accurate compliance with the MDS process reflecting the patient’s plan of care. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and evaluate strategies to achieve patient goals and reduce rehospitalizations. Ensure Point Click Care (PCC) is utilized according to business processes. Contact attending physician to obtain orders as indicated (admission, change in condition, etc.). Ensure Physician Orders are followed as prescribed. Oversee medication management to ensure adequate supplies and compliance with Genese policy. Promptly notify attending physician and family or responsible party of any significant change in patient health. Create a respectful, team‑oriented, responsive environment for staff, patients, and families. Ensure effective communication between licensed nursing staff and CNAs during and between shifts. Participate in shift‑to‑shift communication between incoming and outgoing nursing staff. Serve as a role model in delivering direct patient care using the nursing process. Provide patient care when required. Ensure discharge planning processes are in place and provide consultation as needed. Ensure complete and prompt reporting of incidents, accidents, and adverse events to Administrator and Director of Nursing. Investigate patient/family complaints and take appropriate actions to resolve them. Education: Identify educational needs of staff and collaborate with the Nurse Practice Educator to design programs to meet those needs. Evaluate and provide feedback to the NPE and staff regarding program effectiveness. Participate in staff competency evaluation. Demonstrate, teach, and evaluate nursing skills specific to the unit’s patient population. Promote professional development and career opportunities for nursing staff. Quality Improvement: Participate in the development, implementation, and evaluation of quality improvement activities for the Center or unit as requested. Prepare written reports, review records, and assist in data collection as indicated. Review clinical records for patients with unplanned rehospitalizations to identify areas needing improvement. Ensure that all patient incidents, accidents, adverse events and grievances are documented, investigated, reported and addressed per Genesis policies and federal/state regulations. Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive PHI at all times. Perform other related duties as required. Specific Educational / Vocational Requirements Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. (Associate Degree – 3 years of experience, Diploma – 3 years of experience, BSN – 2 years of experience) Successful completion of leadership experience (e.g., head nurse, supervisor) for a minimum of one year. Current licensure by the State Board of Examiners of Nurses in the Center’s state. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to ensure patient and visitor safety.
