Referral & Authorization Coordinator

Referral & Authorization Coordinator (Bilingual – English/Spanish) We are seeking a detail-oriented Referral & Authorization Coordinator to manage authorizations and referrals across multiple insurance plans. This role ensures timely care coordination, accurate documentation, and excellent patient communication. Key Responsibilities Process and track authorization requests, ensuring accuracy and completeness Secure approvals from insurance providers via phone, email, or fax Coordinate specialty appointments, diagnostics, DME, and other services Follow up on outstanding documentation to prevent delays in care Communicate authorization status and resolve patient inquiries Maintain referral records, verify appointment completion, and obtain clinical documentation Use multiple systems to schedule, track, and manage referrals Meet deadlines and maintain professional, patient-focused communication Schedule - Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (may travel to nearby clinics) Required Qualifications 1+ year of healthcare experience (referrals, front/back office, or authorizations) Knowledge of insurance plans and eligibility guidelines 2+ years of customer service experience Fluent in English & Spanish (required) Typing speed of 35+ WPM High School Diploma or GED Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Chula Vista, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
