Job Details Location: Denver Art Museum, Denver, CO 80204 Position Type: Full Time Salary Range: $55,700 - $74,200 per year Collective Bargaining Agreement: AFSCME-CWU Why Join Us? This role assists with maintaining operating budgets, performing timely reconciliations, and supporting the Museum’s financial systems and reporting tools, while helping ensure accurate financial reporting and strong internal controls. Monthly reporting on membership programs and admissions activity. Accounting and reporting on the Museum’s retail operation and completion of the quarterly incentive calculation. Monthly reporting and filing of the museum’s sales and other tax filings. Monthly reconciliation of critical systems including Raiser’s Edge to Business Central and the Dashboard to ATMS reconciliations. Prepare and submit quarterly funding requests to the City of Denver and manage the accounting and reconciliation of SCFD funds. Support development and maintenance of the Museum’s operating budget. Critical partner for museum accounting for traveling exhibitions including reconciliation of expenses, fees, and reporting. Complete quarterly balance sheet reconciliations as assigned. Critical partner in the museum quarterly Learning and Engagement alignment meetings including reporting and necessary budget adjustments. Responsible for maintenance of the accounting system including account setup, system routing, opening and closing periods and fiscal years. Responsible for managing the museum’s reporting system (Jet Reports) as well as rolling over monthly and year‑end reports. Museum internal resource for expense and budget inquiries by departments including processing reclass requests as needed. Review and post journal entries as assigned. Responsible for maintaining the museum’s utilities reconciliation. Assist with year‑end capitalization, disposal, and depreciation of fixed assets, compiling backup and reports to support the asset entries. Assist with preparation of the financial audit, the 990‑tax return, annual report, and federal program audit, if applicable. Train and serve as backup to others in the department to ensure essential tasks are completed timely. Other duties and projects as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). 0–2 years of accounting experience (internships welcome). Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and the month‑end close process. Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to meet deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, pivot tables) and Microsoft Office. Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism. Experience in a nonprofit, government‑funded, or cultural institution environment. Familiarity with fund accounting and/or restricted net asset tracking. Experience with accounting software/ERPs (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) and report writers (e.g., Jet Reports) or similar tools. Experience reconciling revenue systems such as ticketing, POS/retail, or donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) to the general ledger. Collaborative, service‑oriented approach with internal stakeholders. Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly; comfortable asking questions and documenting procedures. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to accuracy, integrity, and continuous improvement. Work Environment This position is primarily office‑based with periodic deadlines around month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to support Museum events, audits, or special projects.
