Billing & Collections Associate The Billing & Collections Associate is responsible for owning insurance claims end-to-end, from initial submission through final payment resolution. This role is heavily focused on insurance denials, appeals, and collections, rather than high-volume transactional billing. The ideal candidate brings strong experience navigating explanations of benefits (EOBs), managing payer denials, preparing and submitting appeals, and persistently following up with insurance carriers to secure payment. Success in this role requires attention to detail, timeliness, accountability, and the ability to problem-solve in a complex, non-automated healthcare reimbursement environment. This position sits within the finance organization but functions as a specialized insurance billing and collections role, supporting a small team responsible for complex, non-par and out-of-network claims across multiple payers. Skills Denial management Appeals processing Insurance billing and collections experience Medical Manufacturing Healthcare insurance billing Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers Understanding of in-network vs out-of-network billing challenge Additional Skills & Qualifications Required Education, Certifications, or Experience High School Diploma or equivalent required 12+ years of experience in healthcare insurance billing, collections, denial management, or appeals No formal certification required; hands-on experience with insurance payers, EOBs, and appeals is significantly more important than credentials Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Clarita, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
