Workers Compensation Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks an attorney to defend workers' compensation and general liability cases in Springfield, IL. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team dedicated to representing employers and insurers in various legal proceedings. Duties Conduct discovery and draft legal documents. Litigate cases before an administrative law judge. Represent employer or insurer interests at hearings and other proceedings. Monitor loss run reports and alert management to concerns. Assist in accident investigations and manage costs to reduce liability. Compile and submit management reports. Coordinate and attend claims reviews. Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients. Requirements J.D. and admission to the Illinois bar; additional Midwest state bar admission is a plus. Experience in workers' compensation or general liability defense. Working knowledge of legal principles and practices. In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations. Thorough knowledge of legal research techniques and terminology. Education Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. Certifications Admission to the Illinois State Bar. Skills Strong legal research and writing skills. Excellent negotiation and communication abilities.
