Job Title: Construction Manager Job Description

This full-time Construction Manager role supports the Buildings & Environments domain with a focus on federal projects, primarily dining and facilities work on military bases. The position is based in Northern Virginia with at least 25% required travel to various project sites. You will oversee interior fit-out and renovation projects, manage general contractors, and serve as the owners representative, ensuring projects meet federal standards and client expectations. • Manage general contractors on federal construction projects and act as the primary owners representative to the end client.
• Oversee interior fit-out and renovation projects, particularly dining halls and dining facilities, ensuring scope, quality, and schedule requirements are met.
• Run and enforce a strong culture of safety on all sites, ensuring compliance with federal, Department of Defense, and OSHA regulations.
• Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, and audits to identify and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate closely with general contractors quality control managers and inspectors to maintain high construction and safety standards.
• Participate in preconstruction planning, including logistics coordination and site readiness activities.
• Develop and maintain detailed three-week look-ahead schedules and support overall project scheduling using Procore and other tools.
• Coordinate inspections, submittals, RFIs, and quality assurance documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage project close-out activities, including punch lists, testing, and documentation required by federal and USACE standards.
• Prepare and oversee reports related to project status, safety, quality, and close-out, and communicate updates clearly to stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams, demonstrating effective communication and dispute resolution skills.
• Provide team leadership in the field, coordinating trades and site activities to keep projects on track.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in construction management processes, safety practices, and project delivery.

• At least 7 years of owners representative or construction management experience as a Construction Manager in the federal space.
• Proven experience managing 35 interior renovation projects in the federal space simultaneously.
• Strong understanding of federal construction, including USACE projects and Department of Defense facility requirements.
• Hands-on experience with interior fit-out projects, particularly dining halls, dining rooms, and related facilities.
• Ability to use Procore for scheduling and project coordination, with strong overall technological proficiency.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office for documentation, reporting, and communication.
• Proficient in Bluebeam for drawing review, markups, and coordination.
• Experience with scheduling software and the ability to develop and maintain detailed short-term look-ahead schedules.
• Demonstrated team leadership, project scheduling, and field coordination capabilities.
• Strong communication skills, including client engagement, reporting, and collaboration with contractors and inspectors.
• Ability to run safety programs on site, enforce OSHA compliance, and lead safety meetings and audits.
• Detail-oriented mindset with a strong desire to improve construction management practices, relationship building, and dispute resolution.

• Experience working on USACE and other federal agency construction projects.
• Background in dining and facilities construction on military bases or similar secure environments.
• OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training is highly beneficial.
• Active or eligible Secret clearance is highly advantageous for work on certain federal and military projects.
• Experience coordinating quality control activities with general contractors and third-party inspectors.
• Familiarity with federal, DoD, and USACE standards, processes, and documentation requirements.
• Strong team player mentality with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and project teams.
• Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time to project sites, including occasional out-of-state trips.

This role is primarily based in an office in Fairfax, Virginia, with frequent onsite work at multiple projects at Fort Belvoir and other federal facilities. You will spend a significant portion of your time on active construction sites, overseeing interior fit-out and renovation work in dining halls and related facilities. The position requires approximately 25% travel, including occasional out-of-state trips for a few days at a time, with all travel expenses covered. You will work closely with general contractors, quality control managers, inspectors, and client representatives in a fast-paced, safety-focused environment. Standard office technologies such as Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Procore, and scheduling software are used daily for coordination, documentation, and reporting. Site work will require appropriate construction-appropriate attire and adherence to safety gear requirements in accordance with OSHA and federal regulations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manassas, VA.

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
