About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Emergency Department Duration: 12 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 9:00 AM - 9:30 PM; 2 call shifts per 6-week schedule period Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS Must-Have: EPIC experience required; Trauma level 2 or higher preferred Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver. The RN assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients using the nursing process, trends, technology, financial and human resources. The RN performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. The RN maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided. This documentation ensures the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. The RN completes initial assessment upon patient admission. The RN develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards. The plan of care is based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. The RN modifies the plan of care based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. The RN communicates with others directly and privately when necessary to resolve issues. The RN offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers. The RN confers with colleagues to expand their knowledge base. The RN identifies their own learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. The RN fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. The RN implements procedures and theories specific to Emergency Department nursing. The RN performs patient assessment and collaborates with providers, family, and the patient to develop a care plan. The RN executes the plan of care and nursing interventions. The RN modifies the care plan based on continuous assessment. The RN is responsible for patient and staff safety through appropriate nursing interventions. The RN adheres to safety standards and corrects/reporting safety hazards. The RN effectively communicates and collaborates with staff, visitors, and families to promote a healthy work environment. The RN maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation.
