Registered Nurse - Operating Room

Job Summary:

The TRAVEL - RN - OR position provides direct perioperative nursing care for a high-volume orthopedic surgical caseload, supporting patients from pre-op through recovery workflows. This role requires strong clinical judgment, reliable IV and surgical preparation skills, and proficiency with orthopedic-specific procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for surgery by completing required assessments and interventions.
• Start and manage IV access while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
• Assist with orthopedic case flow, including ACL-related and total joint procedures.
• Monitor and recover patients through phase 1 and phase 2 per established protocols.
• Apply patient-focused communication to reassure and support individuals pre- and post-operatively.
• Coordinate effectively with the surgical team, adapting to varied assignments and personalities.

Qualifications:

• Hold an active Registered Nurse license.
• Maintain current BLS certification.
• Maintain current ACLS certification.
• Demonstrate recent operating room experience with a strong orthopedic focus (ACL, total joints, scopes).
• Prove proficiency with perioperative skills including IV starts and pre-/post-operative preparation.
• Exhibit strong critical thinking, versatility, and a positive, calming patient demeanor.
