Posting Summary Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a per diem Research Assistant for the department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, assist in single‑molecule biophysical analysis of force‑producing enzymes. Prepare samples and carry out single‑molecule biophysical assays on force‑producing enzymes. Daily maintenance of various cell cultures. General molecular biology and recombinant protein preparation. Use and maintain custom‑built instrumentation for optical and magnetic tweezers. Use and improve custom‑written LabVIEW and MATLAB scripts for data acquisition and analysis. Maintain clear and comprehensive laboratory records. Perform statistical analyses of research data. Qualifications Minimum Education and Experience Currently enrolled in undergraduate/graduate studies, or satisfactory completion of undergraduate/graduate degree program, in biomedical engineering, biophysics, physics, biochemistry, or a similar field. Preferred Qualifications Minimum of 1 year of lab research experience is highly preferred, but is not required. A basic knowledge of computer programming, particularly with MATLAB and/or LabVIEW is preferred. General wet lab skills are required. Experience with biophysical techniques is preferred. Salary Hourly: $17.00/hour (minimum $15.92, mid range $75.00, maximum $150.00). Salary may be adjusted based on qualifications, experience, and available funding. The final offer will consider market benchmarks and internal equity.
