Library Information Specialist Sr - Web Content and Digital Operations

Hiring Department MU Library Job Description This Library Information Specialist Sr position is responsible for web content and digital operations in the Teaching & Learning unit of the MU Libraries. This position supports the University of Missouri Libraries' public-facing web presence, online learning infrastructure, and digital service platforms. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate, accessible, user-centered, and well-organized digital information across library websites, LibApps, online learning materials, and related service platforms. Key Responsibilities Web Content Maintenance and Digital Operations Maintain and update content on University Libraries websites, including WordPress pages, library gateway pages, staff and librarian profile pages, service pages, and other public-facing web content. Review web content for accuracy, clarity, currency, consistency, usability, and alignment with library service priorities. Identify and remediate outdated, duplicated, broken, inaccessible, or confusing content across selected library platforms. Respond to web problem reports, service requests, and content update requests submitted by library employees and users. Support backend organization of web content, including cleanup of outdated pages, review of unused content, unpublishing or archiving obsolete materials, and improving content structure. Assist with maintaining effective navigation, internal linking, breadcrumbs, content organization, and user pathways across library web properties. Support recurring and one-time digital cleanup, migration, transition, and remediation projects resulting from changes in library systems, discovery platforms, vendors, or service models. Accessibility, Usability, and Quality Control Support accessibility remediation and quality control for University Libraries web content and digital learning materials. Apply accessibility best practices, including current WCAG standards, ADA Title II readiness, ARIA where appropriate, keyboard navigation, screen reader compatibility, color contrast, heading structure, link clarity, and accessible document or media practices. Assist with testing web pages, guides, forms, tutorials, and other digital materials for accessibility and usability. Help improve the user experience of library digital platforms through review, testing, documentation, and recommendation of improvements. Collaborate with library employees and student workers to identify and correct accessibility, usability, and content-quality issues. Maintain awareness of emerging accessibility standards, web practices, and tools relevant to academic library services. LibApps and Online Learning Support Provide support for Springshare LibApps, including LibGuides, LibWizard, LibCal, accounts, assets, and related platform features. Troubleshoot issues for librarians, staff, and other content creators. Assist with guide cleanup, link review, metadata review, asset organization, profile maintenance, and platform consistency. Support updates related to Springshare platform changes, template changes, accessibility improvements, and framework transitions such as Bootstrap updates. Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining online learning objects, tutorials, quizzes, instructional modules, videos, and related digital learning materials. Analytics, Assessment, and Reporting Assist with gathering, organizing, and interpreting web and digital platform usage data. Use tools such as Google Analytics 4, Looker Studio, Springshare statistics, and other reporting tools to help answer questions about digital engagement and user behavior. Prepare summaries, reports, dashboards, or recommendations related to web traffic, guide usage, referral traffic, digital resource engagement, and other online service metrics. Help identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improving digital services based on data and user feedback. Other Duties and Additional Responsibilities Provide limited support for Digital Media and Innovation Lab operations in collaboration with the DMiL Manager and other library employees, including assisting with student, faculty, and staff use of selected equipment, software, spaces, and digital media workflows. Support selected DMiL activities such as lab tours, class visits, outreach events, workshops, and student worker or intern training as assigned. Document procedures, workflows, troubleshooting steps, and best practices related to web content, LibApps, accessibility, online learning materials, digital media support, and related digital operations. Assist with training, workshops, consultations, and internal documentation for library employees working with web content, LibGuides, accessibility, online learning tools, and digital platforms. Participate in meetings and project discussions related to library web services, digital operations, online learning, user experience, service improvement, and student success. Maintain current knowledge of relevant web, accessibility, digital learning, analytics, digital media, and library technology practices. Participate in professional development opportunities, webinars, and training related to assigned responsibilities. Perform other related duties as assigned. Shift Typical working hours will be Monday - Friday 8am-5pm Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary Preferred Qualifications This position requires strong attention to detail, technical aptitude, service orientation, and the ability to work independently across multiple projects. It also requires independent judgment, project coordination, problem-solving, and the ability to provide guidance and support to colleagues, student workers, interns, and other library employees working with digital content and web-based services. Preferred qualifications include: Experience maintaining, editing, or supporting web content. Working knowledge of HTML and CSS. Demonstrated ability to learn new software, platforms, tools, and technical workflows. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple projects. Ability to manage competing priorities and follow through on assigned tasks. Experience with WordPress or similar content management systems. Experience with Springshare LibApps, including LibGuides, LibWizard, LibCal, or related tools. Experience with web accessibility practices, including WCAG standards, ARIA, keyboard navigation, screen reader usability, accessible color contrast, and accessible content structure. Experience using analytics or reporting tools such as Google Analytics, Looker Studio, Springshare statistics, or similar platforms. Experience creating or supporting online learning materials, tutorials, quizzes, videos, or instructional modules. Experience with digital media tools, podcasting equipment, audio/video editing software, or multimedia production workflows. Experience documenting procedures, creating training materials, or supporting staff/student training. Experience coordinating projects or tracking work across multiple stakeholders. Familiarity with academic libraries, higher education, teaching and learning support, or public-facing service environments.
