Position Summary: The role of the Venture Kids Ministry Pastor is to oversee the Venture Kids Ministry from Nursery through 5th Grade by providing leadership, development, and direction for the Venture Kids staff and volunteers, aligning the direction of the Venture Kids Ministry to the overall Family and Church Ministry mission and direction.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and articulate the vision and goals for Venture Kids Ministry (Birth-5th Grade) in line with the overall vision, mission, and values of Venture Christian Church.
• Work alongside our Local Outreach team & Events Director to provide community events specific to families (Spring Fair, Fall Festival, Winter Wonderland, etc.).
• Develop and manage the annual budget for Venture Kids Ministry.
• Provide the overall planning, organization, and implementation of programs and activities.
• Manage team members, leading in a positive and professional manner by providing spiritual support, leadership, development, coaching, on-going communication regarding performance, organization/church updates, and continuous training to improve overall team and individual performance.
• Develop and maintain policies and procedures for all age groups within Venture Kids Ministry.
• Evaluate and implement curriculum for Venture Kids Ministry teaching environments, Nursery-5th Grade.
• Create meaningful and engaging programming and environments for all age groups within Venture Kids Ministry.
• Recruit, encourage, and equip volunteer leaders to further Venture Kids Ministry in the areas of programming, worship, and discipleship.
• Provide ongoing training and equipping for volunteer leaders through group meetings and weekend huddles.
• Establish and nurture relationships with parents and volunteers, keeping them informed and encouraged, using digital reminders, social media, and other creative means.
• Work with the Guest Services team to establish check-in procedures and the tracking of weekly attendance.
• Develop an innovative strategy to follow up with first-time visiting families (parents and the children who attended).
• Work with the Security team to create safe but welcoming environments for families and children.
• Develop and implement Adventure Kid’s Camp during the summer and various Venture Kids Ministry events throughout the year.
• Oversee Baptism classes for parents and children to attend.
• Coordinate and lead parent/child dedications throughout the year.
• Foster networking among local churches and children’s pastors in the Bay Area and beyond.

Qualifications – Education, Skills, Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies.
• Experience in leading children’s ministry in a large church setting.
• Positive, collaborative, and inspiring leader with strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
• High emotional intelligence.
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and adapt to change.
• Strong commitment to personal and professional growth.
• Strong administrative and organizational skills
• Ability to recruit, train, and develop a strong team and volunteer leader base.
• Positive attitude, solid problem-solving skills, keen attention to detail, and quick responses in fast-paced settings.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to see, talk, and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift 20 lbs., open filing cabinets, and bend, stand or climb on step ladders as necessary.

Work Schedule: Monday – Thursday / 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and weekend services including flexibility with schedule to meet position or program requirements. Additional workdays or hours may be required for events, volunteer training, and programs, etc. Schedule may change based on ministry and organizational needs.
