Sample Management CoordinatorThe Sample Management Coordinator supports laboratory operations by overseeing the receipt, tracking, storage, and distribution of samples and standards. This role follows established procedures, assists laboratory personnel with sample management processes, and helps ensure compliance with laboratory and regulatory requirements while maintaining accurate documentation and timelines.Responsibilities:Receive, log, label, inventory, store, and distribute samples and standards in accordance with established procedures.Maintain accurate records and track sample status throughout the laboratory workflow to ensure proper visibility and control.Communicate sample status, changes, and updates clearly and promptly to laboratory staff.Support proper sample handling, storage, and documentation practices to meet quality and regulatory expectations.Review laboratory requests to ensure they comply with standard operating procedures and established sample management processes.Assist with investigations, deviations, corrective actions, and preventive actions (CAPAs) related to sample management activities.Train laboratory personnel on sample management procedures, documentation practices, and storage requirements.Respond to environmental monitoring alarms and participate in on-call support as needed to maintain sample integrity and safety.Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory requirements in daily work activities.Complete assigned work accurately and within established timelines to support overall laboratory operations.Essential Skills:High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of 2 years of experience in sample management, inventory control, laboratory operations, or a related field.Knowledge of inventory management and sample tracking processes.Understanding of laboratory documentation and regulatory requirements.Ability to review and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs).Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.Strong organizational and time management skills.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Additional Skills & Qualifications:Associate degree, technical certificate, or relevant vocational training preferred.Experience in sample management within a clinical or laboratory setting is beneficial.Exposure to clinical processes and large-scale laboratory operations offers strong professional development opportunities.Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.Work Environment:This role is based in a laboratory setting and involves working closely with a team of approximately 5–10 other coordinators. The environment emphasizes adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory standards, with regular interaction with laboratory staff and clinical processes. Work may include responding to environmental monitoring alarms and participating in on-call support. The position provides an opportunity to gain valuable exposure to clinical workflows and large-company laboratory operations in a structured, procedure-driven environment.Job Type & Location:This is a Contract position based out of Richmond, VA.Pay and Benefits:The pay range for this position is $18.30 - $18.30/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
