On offer: $300K-$ 350K base salary, bonus, and equity. Palo Alto, hybrid. The chance to build a legal function at one of the most ambitious labs in the world.

We're building general-purpose world models — causal, interactive, real-time simulations. Not clips that flicker and vanish, but persistent worlds you can step into, act on, and that hold their state. It's one of the hardest problems in AI, and we're a small team moving fast at the front of it.

We've never had an in-house lawyer. You'd be the first. That means the legal function is yours to build — and the deals that matter most run through you. Compute and infrastructure commitments across cloud and silicon are the biggest, riskiest bets the company makes, and you'll sit at the table where they're structured and won. The rest of the surface — commercial, employment, IP, corporate, regulatory — is yours too. You'll be a generalist by day and a deal partner by the hour.

This is a 0→1 seat with a clear runway: start as the sole counsel, grow into the leader of a team within 18–24 months.

What you'll do

• Own the entire legal surface from day one — corporate, commercial, employment, IP, data/privacy, regulatory.
• Be the legal brain on compute and infrastructure deals, structuring and negotiating multi-cloud, silicon, and hyperscaler commitments next to finance and the founders.
• Turn slow, bespoke contracting into fast, repeatable playbooks so legal never becomes the bottleneck.
• Run point on US, UK, and Swiss matters, and stand shoulder-to-shoulder with leadership through financing and board work.
• Build the function — process, tooling, vendors — from a blank page.

• A generalist who actually understands the bleeding edge — AI, autonomous vehicles, robotics, or deep-tech infrastructure.
• Someone who's been close to the mechanics of compute, infrastructure, or complex commercial deals and isn't fazed by them.
• From a top-tier firm or in-house at a frontier company — we care far more about what you know than where you sat.
• International in instinct, with a cross-border range.
