Contract Billing Specialist Opportunity

Location: Fully Remote

• Must be located in DMV

Type: 6 Month Contract

Compensation: $24–27/hr

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision, 401k, and PTO.

About the Opportunity

A nationally recognized research organization is seeking a Billing Specialist to join its finance team on a remote contract basis. This role will support both federal and non-federal client billing activities and is ideal for someone with experience in government contracting environments and a strong understanding of compliance-driven billing processes.

The selected candidate will work closely with finance leadership to ensure accurate invoice preparation, timely submission, payment tracking, and resolution of billing discrepancies while maintaining compliance with federal regulations and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate client invoices for both federal and non-federal contracts
• Track billing activity and payment status to ensure timely collections
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and invoice-related issues
• Ensure compliance with government billing regulations and contractual requirements
• Maintain accurate billing records and supporting documentation
• Collaborate with internal finance and project teams to support billing operations
• Work within financial systems to process billing and reporting activities

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• At least 1 year of experience in billing, accounting, or finance
• Experience within a government contracting environment preferred
• Experience using Deltek Costpoint or similar government contracting financial systems
• Understanding of FAR (Federal Acquisition Regulation) requirements and related compliance standards
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
