Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) based in United States.

The Director of FP&A will lead financial planning, forecasting, analysis, and reporting for a fast-growing technology business operating across SaaS and payments. This strategic finance leader will partner directly with C-suite executives and functional leaders to translate complex financial and operational data into actionable business insights. The role will shape budgeting, long-range planning, unit economics, pricing, and investment decisions across multiple revenue streams. You will build sophisticated models and reporting capabilities that improve visibility into growth, profitability, and operational performance. The position also offers the opportunity to strengthen FP&A systems, automate processes, and improve data quality across the organization. As a people leader, you will develop a high-performing FP&A team while establishing a culture of accountability, analytical rigor, and continuous improvement.

Accountabilities:

• Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning, incorporating SaaS and payments revenue streams, cash flow projections, and scenario analyses.
• Partner with senior executives and functional leaders across Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Operations to evaluate strategic initiatives and financial priorities.
• Provide financial guidance on pricing, customer acquisition, product investments, payment partnerships, monetization strategies, and operational efficiency.
• Analyze core SaaS and payments KPIs, including ARR, MRR, NDR, CAC, LTV, churn, gross margin, GPV, take rate, transaction margin, interchange revenue, and processing costs.
• Build and maintain sophisticated financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools that provide clear visibility into business and financial performance.
• Lead cohort, pricing and packaging, ROI, profitability, and business performance analyses to identify growth and margin opportunities.
• Own monthly and quarterly management reporting, including variance analysis, business-driver commentary, executive reporting, and board materials.
• Collaborate with Accounting on financial close processes, reconciliations, and alignment between GAAP reporting and operating metrics.
• Lead the optimization and automation of FP&A systems and processes using tools such as Power BI, Adaptive Insights, Anaplan, Excel, and related data platforms.
• Ensure financial and operational data is accessible, accurate, consistent, and reliable for decision-making across the organization.
• Partner with Sales on commission structures, quota setting, and sales efficiency analysis, and work with Product and Payments teams on financial implications of new features and pricing changes.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing FP&A team while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline; MBA or CPA preferred.
• 8–12 years of progressive FP&A or financial planning experience, including at least 3 years within SaaS, fintech, payments, or similarly data-intensive technology environments.
• Deep understanding of SaaS metrics and business models, including ARR, NDR, CAC, LTV, churn, retention, and gross margin.
• Strong knowledge of fintech and payments economics, including interchange, processing costs, revenue sharing, take rates, and transaction margins.
• Advanced financial modeling and Excel capabilities, with experience using FP&A and planning platforms such as Cube, Mosaic, Anaplan, or comparable tools.
• Experience with business intelligence and data visualization platforms such as Looker, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Strong proficiency with AI-enabled analytical tools, such as Claude or equivalent, for data analysis, model development, data validation, SQL query drafting, and other finance workflows.
• Experience building and improving dashboards, reporting frameworks, planning processes, and financial systems.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly to C-suite executives and non-financial stakeholders.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence decision-making, manage competing priorities, and collaborate effectively without direct authority.
• Strong strategic thinking, analytical judgment, attention to detail, and commercial awareness.
• Preferred experience with B2B SaaS businesses using tiered or usage-based pricing models.
• Preferred experience with payments, embedded finance, ACH/card rails, payout flows, or related fintech ecosystems.
• Experience supporting venture capital- or private equity-backed businesses through periods of rapid growth, fundraising, scaling, or M&A is advantageous.
